The Global Development Engineering Manager provides engineering & technical support globally to standardize, optimize, strengthen and expand the Medical tubing product lines & overall capabilities.

Will navigate the complexity of a global business with shared sites, and lead strategic engineering projects while also maintaining tactical duties such as part-cost estimation. While the Global Commercial Engineering Manager does not have any direct report, they will need to be a strong influencer to ensure global exchange of best manufacturing process and driving collaboration between site engineering.

Will develop the vision/mission, including translating the business needs and strategy into a key actionable engineering plan short and medium term.

Directly responsible for the engineering tubing activities across the Medical site & shared site where we have medical tubing customers:

  • Portage, WI (MED site)
  • Taunton, MA
  • Beaverton, MI
  • Akron, OH
  • Charny, FR
  • Lyon, FR
  • Minghang, CN
  • Bangalore, IN

Primary Accountabilities

  • Standardizing and optimizing the current medical extrusion capabilities footprint globally, based on the defined business strategy, product management direction and market needs.

Global alignment at front end of project inception prior to CAPEX approval to optimize manufacturing technology, ease of part build within manufacturing and improve business continuity while maximizing business value

Lead and develop network of extrusion experts across our shared MED site. Align and collaborate with MTI to define & translate BU needs into actionable projects.

Define the level of automation needed and design the automation elements in close cooperation with the Portage team and external experts.

  • New product development to meet specific customer requirements and new product introduction by working closely with R&D. Will assess feasibility, fit within the business strategy and provide the technical support required to design, develop and launch new product requests. Key in supporting the organic growth of our Medical tubing product line through the handling of Large Value Opportunities and constitutes a pivotal link between Sales, Marketing and Operations.
  • Providing technical support to customers and assisting Sales & marketing teams, including participation in trade events and face-to-face customer meetings. Offer expertise in manufacturing design, material selection, process development, and provide technical content (e.g., white papers) for marketing purposes.

Collaborate with R&D to develop appropriate test methods and prioritization of tests.

  • Project Management: Lead the cross functional teams providing a high level of expertise implementing manufacturing processes & equipment that ensure a standard, optimized approach is used to include writing or leveraging existing LS URS (User Requirements Specification) as a base for machine & equipment order

Bachelor's Degree - Engineering (mechanical, chemical, materials, technology, etc.); Required.

Advanced Degree - within Materials, Chemical or Other Related; Required.

7+ years of experience - manufacturing - within engineering capacity (process, design, mechanical, materials, applications development, etc); Required.

3+ years of Project Management experience of medium to large sized, complex projects; Required.

Experience in materials science - i.e. plastics, silicone, etc.; Required.

Travel upwards of 30% - related to critical projects/timeframes; Required.

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $99,900 to $154,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $112,887 to $174,924. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
