The Team:
Our Knowledge Engineering team specifies enterprise-wide ontology and taxonomy, with standards and best-practices, to formalize shared meaning for the division’s data estate. Every day you will work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, disciplines, and geographies to build and support our next generation interconnected data intelligence organization.
Responsibilities and Impact:
- Work with business users and technologists to define concepts and relationships in datasets.
- Help develop ontologies, taxonomies and knowledge graphs using RDF, OWL and SKOS; help ensure semantic interoperability and enterprise standards compliance across systems, applications, and user communities.
- Write technical and user documentation; help implement naming/ semantic conventions; help develop and support the team’s semantic operations and engineering systems (SemOps).
- This position provides a tremendous opportunity to grow personally and professionally. We provide considerable training so you can become comfortable with our implementation of industry-standard ontologies as well as proprietary taxonomies and information systems.
- You will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts, Data Stewards, Product and Project Managers, Developers and Data Architects to help design solutions based on industry standard methodologies and use your critical thinking skills to overcome challenges.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to organize information and gather requirements in an Agile environment.
- High attention to detail with a passion for semantics, data, and analytics.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the field.
- Basic knowledge of Taxonomies and Ontologies as they relate to data management.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Educational background in information science, semantics, data management, linguistics, philosophy or related disciplines is a plus.
- Awareness of semantic web technologies.
- Awareness of semantic web technologies, e.g., RDF, SPARQL.
- Familiarity with relational database concepts and modeling.
