Aldevron is seeking a highly ambitious and experienced Director of Strategy and Business Development to join our dynamic Global Marketing and Strategy team. This role is pivotal to strategy creation and deployment across the organization and will drive market and competitive research and analysis. They will also own the end-to-end process of negotiating and securing out-licensing for key technology assets. The ideal candidate has an outstanding ability to bring rigor and data to bear on strategic decisions, and has a successful track-record of deal-making and ability to create and maintain strong client relationships. This person must be excited to roll up their sleeves to own and drive every aspect of strategy creation – starting with building complex models through to slide writing and story-telling.
This role is part of the Strategy team and will be fully remote. You will report to the VP of Strategy responsible for leading the strategic planning, development and deployment across Aldevron from start to finish- from insight generation to strategic storylines for executive level audiences.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Drive primary and secondary research on market, customers, and competitors. Own analysis to identify trends, customer dynamics, growth drivers, opportunities and competitive threats. Synthesize insights into recommendations and provide regular updates to leadership
- Own, contribute to, and evaluate complex models based on large data sets for various purposes including market analysis, forecasting, and evaluation of opportunities
- Evaluate new markets qualitatively and quantitatively and formulate perspective on opportunity for Aldevron and assess competitive positioning and conduct gap analysis to identify areas of differentiation and focused growth.
- Create business cases for strategic initiatives, organic growth opportunities, and tech licensing
- Lead negotiations and manage the end-to-end process of securing business deals and licensing agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for all transaction documents, including CDAs, Letters of Intent, Term Sheets, License Agreements, Collaboration Agreements and Intellectual Property Licenses in close partnership with intellectual property colleagues and both internal and external legal counsel
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, genetics, cell and gene therapy, biomedicine, chemistry, biology, life sciences or related disciplines; top tier MBA, PhD or other graduate degree
- Proven experience and 9+ years leading strategic projects in health care industry as well as driving business development opportunities from start to finish, with at least 4+ years at a top tier consulting firm
- Significant analytical expertise and techniques with an outstanding ability to synthesize data into insights to inform strategic decisions; the ability to model and interpret complex data and market trends
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex technologies and processes related to cell and gene therapies (CGT)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate complex business and scientific issues with any audience with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Cell and gene therapies, CDMOs, and/or bioprocessing
- Highly motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

The salary range for this role is $160,000-$180,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
