We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Legislative Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide critical support to our Federal Relations team members while tracking legislative developments and ensuring effective communication with key stakeholders. This position is residence based in the Washington, DC area.

Required Skills / Abilities: 

  • Experience with SAP and Workday a plus, including ability to extract data, compile reports, and publish monthly metrics.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and people skills.
  • Leadership mindset with the ability to achieve results.

  • Takes initiative in learning and implementing new methods, concepts, or technologies.
  • Ability to travel to our headquarters in Allentown, PA.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough research on legislative issues, bills, and policy proposals.
  • Monitors and tracks the progress of legislation, committee hearings, and other legislative activities, providing updates, summaries, and detailed memos.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies and initiatives to support the legislative policy goals and objectives.
  • Performs administrative tasks and schedules and coordinates meetings, events & fundraisers. Planning and organization of various events such as lunches/dinners/special events
  • Attends congressional hearings and memorialize in writing the issues covered.
  • Drafts communication including memos, letters, and emails.
  • Travel planning support for the team, including visa application for foreign travel.
  • Working knowledge of coordinating information with Websites, SharePoint, and other electronic media repositories.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs; adheres to company and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience in government relations, public policy, legislative affairs, or a similar role required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in politic science, public policy, communication, or a related field a plus.
  • Strong research and analytic abilities.
  • Understanding of the federal legislative process a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint & Publisher).
