Sr. Quantum Computing Engineer - STEM Volunteer Mentor
Location: Remote
Commitment: Part-time (minimum 4 class sessions for 2 hrs)
Duration: up to 5 months

 
About the Role:

 
iTrust Human Capital Management are seeking a passionate Senior Quantum Computing Engineer Volunteer to mentor and train high school students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), particularly in the emerging field of quantum computing. As part of this volunteer program, you will guide students through the foundational concepts of quantum mechanics, quantum algorithms, and quantum programming, helping to inspire and shape the next generation of innovators in this exciting field.

 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Lead workshops and training sessions introducing quantum computing concepts such as qubits, superposition, entanglement, and quantum gates
  • Provide mentorship on developing quantum algorithms and using quantum computing platforms like IBM Qiskit or Google Cirq
  • Facilitate hands-on learning by guiding students through quantum programming exercises and real-world problem-solving projects
  • Break down complex quantum theories into understandable lessons for high school students with varying levels of experience in STEM
  • Foster critical thinking and curiosity by encouraging questions and exploring creative solutions in quantum simulations and coding challenges
  • Collaborate with other volunteers and program organizers to design a curriculum that balances theory and practical experience
  • Motivate students by sharing your career journey and insights into the future of quantum technology
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore and innovate

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in quantum computing, quantum information science, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of quantum algorithms, quantum gates, and quantum programming languages like Qiskit or Cirq
