Job description

S CS Engineers is looking for a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Plant Startup & Commissioning Technician to join our Renewable Energy Business Unit. SCS Energy focuses on renewable energy design, build, and operate projects in the renewable biogas and renewable power markets. Our projects aim to achieve renewable energy goals, reduce greenhouse gases, and create useful by-products from waste. We build systems that power universities, wastewater treatment plants, generate renewable natural gas sales, support electric utilities, and dairies, all transitioning to renewable energy. This position will involve up to 75% travel nationwide in the U.S. and possibly to Canada. You will be traveling on-site for extended periods (typically 3 or more weeks). When on-site you can expect to work Saturdays and 60 hour work weeks. You also need to be flexible for on-call support.

How You Can Make An Impact

  • You will be responsible for starting up new RNG facilities designed and built by SCS. You will collaborate with:
  • Equipment vendors
  • Equipment commissioning staff
  • Client commissioning staff
  • Construction management staff
  • Project management staff
  • Controls, electrical, process, and mechanical engineering staff
  • Provide training to facility personnel on operating and maintaining (O&M) the facility to facilitate project hand-off
  • Command the commissioning function of the facility while on-site
  • Execute and adhere to the commissioning schedule
  • Coordinate and work with vendors and subcontractors to meet tight deadlines
  • Commission all on-site equipment, ensuring it meets performance specifications and requirements
  • Assist with coordinating vendor schedules for on-site commissioning
  • Create and carry out test plans and procedures
  • Investigate and diagnose equipment issues, identifying root causes and fixing faults
  • Train facility personnel on Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of equipment
  • Oversee on-site vendors and subcontractors
  • Develop progress reports
  • Assist in the transition between construction and commissioning
  • Operate the full plant through a SCADA/Local HMI system in test and auto conditions
  • Report field conditions and test results to supervisors and sometimes directly to clients
  • Support construction/operations team during commissioning downtime
  • Use mechanical tools and perform basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Lead weekly commissioning meetings

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant mechanical or commissioning experience required
  • New facility construction experience preferred
  • SCADA and rotating equipment experience preferred
  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) OSHA 30-Hour training required
  • Ability to travel nationwide up to 75% of the time required
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay Range

USD $45.00 - USD $55.00 /Hr.
