Job Description

The Senior Associate Director of Site Operation (DSO) is responsible for driving change, innovation and process improvements within their assigned region through development of a daily continuous process improvement (CPI) culture to improve patient care. The DSO will collaborate with the regional vice presidents (RVPs) within their assigned region to coach and guide the site medical directors on leadership effectiveness leader standard work (LSW), and CPI designed to assist the medical directors in achieving annual goals, including resource management/budget and operational performance metrics. The DSO builds Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) into all facets of the operation including daily local cadence for stability and problem solving, leadership support, and coaching for daily improvement.

**CANDIDATE MUST RESIDE WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE.**

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:             

  • Collaborate with all VPs in their assigned region to identify highest priority sites requiring improvement
  • Independently manage relationships with the sites in their regions, building relationships not only with the Medical Directors, but also the hospital and departmental leaders
  • Serves as a change facilitator, develops and collaborates with site directors and functional leaders, and influences organizational leadership in the transformation to and/or in support of a continuous process improvement/learning culture following LSW
  • Manage travel to sites, while remaining fiscally responsible
  • Monitor key metrics related to Quality, Safety, Operations and daily site productivity (DSP) to identify areas for improvement opportunities and track site progress towards goals
  • Develop timelines with each site for work to be completed. Working within Account Management to communicate initiatives directed towards goal achievement
  • Develop Leader Standard Work for each Medical Director, freeing up time to focus on leadership activities
    • Engage and coach Medical Directors in department walk throughs focusing on observation of process flow as well as coaching their team
    • Assist with goal development assuring SMART format is being utilized
  • Work with onsite leadership to develop daily dashboard for following departmental progress
  • Collaborate with onsite leadership to develop a committee of frontline staff with a goal of continuously refining flow
  • Assist sites with development of any needed documents/tools to support CPI and provide communication to their staff
  • Collaborate with analyst team on data and analytical needs.  Continually monitor the USACS BI dashboard for his/her sites to identify needs for improvement/interventions
  • Develop CPI communication and education plans
  • Provide a bi-weekly status report keeping VPs and Presidents updated on site status
  • Lead large scale process improvement projects, as needed, including building and maintaining project work plan, providing written weekly status reports, facilitating weekly project champions meetings, development of visual tracking for progress
  • Works as directed by the CRG VP on site/region specific needs
  • Initiate, maintain and share best practices across the organization
  • Develop ongoing CPI and leadership development content for the CRG and USACS medical directors
  • Develop case studies from completed projects to share EBP across USACS
  • Monitor productivity for assigned sites within his/her region and intervene as appropriate in coordination with CRG VP and RVPs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Experience in developing a culture of CPI and sustainment of improvements. 
  • Solid knowledge and demonstrated understanding of improvement methodologies such as: Strategy Deployment, A3 development and management, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5s/Visual Management, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to integrate safety, quality and key delivery requirements with CPI tools and methods through leadership and organizational development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Visio, Publisher and PowerPoint, and GoToMeeting, WebEx, Zoom or another webinar format
  • Travel required 50-75% of work time
  • Team player and willing to take direction
  • Forward thinker with ability to identify future trends and current/potential future best practices in ED setting
  • Strong and efficient communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to identify potential political challenges and report directly to VP Operations in a timely fashion
  • Ability to take an analytic approach to evaluate site/leadership strengths, weaknesses, needs and focuses for improvements
  • Ability to disseminate and understand data from a variety of sources
  • Ability to understand and explain data needs to clients
  • Ability to work independently to plan, lead projects and establish priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to orient, coach, direct, provide oversight and evaluate direct reports
  • Ability to influence hospital leadership, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals via written and spoken communications, to apply our technology in ways that will deliver the best possible outcomes
  • Professional attitude, ability to work with the executive team and multiple levels of management in organizations
  • Ability to lead projects to completion and manage at least two projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing provider and nursing productivity preferred, but not required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree or in a masters program in nursing, business or a related discipline
  • Experience as clinician i.e. RN in a leadership position is highly preferred
  • 10 years of healthcare experience with at least 5 years in leadership (Director level or higher)

Salary Range:

$103,887.00 - $192,191.00

Salary may be determined on several factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, education, geographical location and requirements stated in job description.
