Reporting to Manager, Automation Engineering, the Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer will work in a focused team environment providing discipline specific engineering and technical support for generation projects encompassing operations and maintenance of existing assets, sustaining capital and efficiency projects.
This individual would take a key role in providing discipline specific technical support and commissioning oversight, technical requirements / directions related to field instrumentation, project execution management, engineering procedures, analytical systems and plant control systems within power generating facilities and evaluate new and emerging technologies for possible use within ENMAX’s generating assets.
Major Responsibilities:
Support the development and implementation of instrumentation, analytical, process control support systems including calibration management and field device asset management systems for existing and new operating plants
Provide detailed technical support to operating assets, engineering change requests and oversee development and execution of sustaining capital enhancement programs
Project process control application support and system commissioning for Instrumentation and Control Systems
Field Instrumentation, Analytical Systems, valve and actuators, Operational Technology cyber-security elements, and automation field bus and networking technologies
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and associated application knowledge of key process areas within fired heaters / package boilers, natural gas fired simple and combined cycle power generating facilities
Education Required:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Control Engineering from an accredited institution
P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscientists in Alberta (APEGA), or eligible for immediate Professional registration
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems for power (or thermal) generation plants, or equivalent related process industries
Experience in an operational environment or in an operating facility is an asset
Direct experience with operational knowledge of gas fired industrial / utility boilers and supporting processes; waste heat recovery; simple and combined cycle power plants
Instrumentation & control system project execution / field commissioning / operational facility experience
Thorough practical knowledge of field instrumentation, valves & actuators, automation field bus networking, operational technology cyber security best practices and associated systems
Thorough working and practical knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Distributed Control System (DCS) technologies, support systems and associated configuration / maintenance tools
Experience in drafting technical procedure documents

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
