Job description

Department Overview:

The OHSU Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care (BCCPC) seeks a committed, enthusiastic individual with a scientific and/or educational background to imagine, plan and execute an overall outreach strategy for the Center, with the goal of expanding awareness of its mission and activities, both within the University and externally in the community.  This person will provide administrative support and event coordination for the Center’s outreach and education efforts, including brainstorming, identifying appropriate outreach opportunities, managing invitations, and handling logistics for internal activities (e.g., seminar series, CME conference) and participation in external events (e.g., PurpleStride).  Responsibilities include building relationships and connections within OHSU (including working closely with the Knight Cancer Institute) and with other organizations, and representing the BCCPC at community events across the region.  This person will  produce a monthly seminar series and annual conferences (both CME for providers, and lay for the public/patients); write a regular newsletter and maintain lists of constituents interested in receiving it; develop innovative and creative content/storytelling to elevate the Center’s website and social media presence; manage internal and external announcements; and work with researchers to help them achieve clinical trial enrollment and other grant aims related to outreach.  The Outreach Coordinator will ensure the BCCPC is represented in national fundraising and awareness events such as those put on by PanCAN, Lustgarten Foundation, and the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition, and improve communication between BCCPC and the community to inform our future research strategies with a focus on underrepresented voices and potential high-risk patients.

BCCPC requires new employees to work 100% on-site for their first 4 months; after initial performance review, a hybrid on-site/work from home schedule may be considered but is not guaranteed.  This employee will always have to work at least two (2) days/week onsite as a first point of representation for the Center at the RLSB and to be physically present to assist with in-person events. This is not negotiable.

Cover letter required with application.

Function/Duties of Position:

  • External Events:  Coordinate BCCPC presence at national events, manning booth, recruiting volunteers and providing support; maintain inventory of marketing materials and supplies; fulfill requests for educational materials
