With general direction and considerable latitude for independent judgment and discretion, this position is responsible for all development and delivery aspects of the software development life cycle including coding, testing, integration, deployment, delivery automation, support, and monitoring of our product platforms and applications for the organization. Reports to Chief Technology Officer and works collaboratively with various business leaders across the organization to ensure high quality software solutions are implemented to support business and customer needs.
What you’ll be doing (Job Duties & Responsibilities)
- Own end to end delivery of HealthEquity’s customer facing software platforms and products related to Health Savings accounts and Investment accounts.
- Define the overall technology vision, strategy, and tactical plans and present and communicate to Executives and team members. Provide technology and thought leadership in application development and application security.
- Set and communicate software development and delivery strategy and associated team goals to continuously improve software development and delivery practices. Drive movement toward modernized architectures using PaaS technologies and environments and microservice architectures, Continuous Integration/Delivery and full automation to support engineering and delivery efficiency.
- Lead teams to efficiently and effectively deliver secure, high quality, and high value software, streamline and integrate customer facing platform and product solutions, and simplify platforms and environments across multiple release trains.
- Hire, grow, and retain strong software development and delivery leaders for all platforms and products. Drive development of detailed career track and promotion plan strategies for team members. Optimize organizational structure to address team growth, efficiency improvements, and team member career opportunities.
- Lead team members on Scrum, Site Reliability, Systems Integration, Data Integration, Framework, Tooling, and Technical Support.
- Lead team to meet requirements for regulatory and audit obligations such as SOX, SOC I & II, and HIPAA.
- Deliver metrics associated with software development and delivery team efficiencies and effectiveness, and action plans based on metric analysis.
- Create, lead, and track department level budgets.
What you will need to be successful (Skills, Knowledge, & Experience)
- Knowledge of Software architecture, development, testing, and support or closely related field as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, and/or Computer Science
- 10+ years of experience in software development, including oversight of full software development lifecycle (from design through delivery, support, and monitoring).
- Minimum 3 years as Director level or higher in Software Development
- Leadership skills, with ability to inspire team members, hold self and team accountable, and to drive positive change throughout the organization.
- Experienced leading distributed and remote agile teams.
- Ability to prioritize and organize teams to work in a fast-paced environment with many challenging priorities.
- Efficiently communicates with and develops excellent working relationships with internal and external partners and collaborates efficiently with business partners to deliver cross functional solutions.
- Extensive experience leading a large technology budget and working with service providers of technology solutions and talent.
- Profound understanding of software coding and quality assurance best practices.
- In depth experience with web application development in a multi-tenant environment – prefer experience with Microsoft technology stack including .NET, SQL Server, as well as messaging technologies.
- In depth understanding of Agile/Scrum, Kanban and DevOps software development methodologies. Experience with scaling approaches such as SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
- Experience implementing and using PaaS technologies and environments for all areas of software development and delivery (Azure PaaS preferred).
- Hard-working, motivated senior leader with strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as strong leadership skills and good executive presence. Able to demonstrate a history of continuous improvement.
- Ability to promote and inspire change within an organization.
- Must be capable of working autonomously, is a teammate, and possess the ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels within the organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Salary Range:
$209000.00 To $356000.00 / year

The compensation range describes the typical minimum or maximum base pay range for this position. The actual compensation offer is determined based on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location.
