Job description

Part-time Legal Lead (4-6 month contract)

Role Description

Graphite is a digital marketing agency that builds scalable growth engines for consumer technology companies such as Ticketmaster, MasterClass, BetterUp, and Honey. We specialize in search engine optimization (SEO), content strategy, mobile app growth, and conversion optimization. We are a fully distributed team that is dedicated to creating an environment where you do the best work of your career. With headquarters in San Francisco and team members across the US, Canada, Latin America, and Europe, we are ready to welcome our next team member!

We’re looking for a temporary part-time (20 hs per week) Legal Lead to join our team. You will be responsible for assisting the Director of Legal in various daily tasks, such as supporting the legal aspects of the development of the company's offering, supporting the contract redlining process for incoming clients, and following up on ongoing contracts and negotiations. This is a fully remote opportunity that will last anywhere from 4-6 months. You will be required to possess a work-functioning laptop or PC, a high-speed internet connection, and the ability to work part-time, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM CST. There won’t be paid holidays during this 4-6 month contract.

What you’ll do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts

  • Support leadership with new initiatives, including product development and intellectual property matters

  • Provide support in the intake-to-procure processes for Graphite’s vendors, including onboarding

  • Identification of legal issues and risks that may affect Graphite

  • Follow up on regulatory matters

  • Work along with an international team of lawyers to establish contract templates and workstreams

  • NDA analysis and tracking

What you’ll need

  • 2+ years of experience in similar roles in-house or in a Law firm

  • Law Degree

  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Law. Knowledge of Corporate, Labour, or IP Law is highly desirable

  • Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts, with a pragmatic and commercial approach, in English

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask & prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Proactive, highly organized, and with a sense of urgency

How we’ll help

Graphite’s mission is to create an environment where you build the best work of your career. In order to facilitate this, we provide:

  • Process As Needed - We view the process as a way to empower better work, not as a series of dogmatic rules. We develop the best internal processes the same way we develop products - through iteration, measurement, and continuous improvement.

  • Autonomy - We trust you to be excellent at what you do. We will provide as much support as needed when needed, but no more. You will have autonomy and agency to drive projects forward, and own decisions and outcomes.

  • Flexible Work Environment - Everyone’s optimal work style is unique. We operate as a distributed team across the US, Canada, Latin America and Europe. We optimize for productivity and performance, not time spent in an office. Help us build an optimal work environment that fits you as an individual.

Graphite provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected classification.
