Senior Structural Engineer, Sustainable / Energy Efficient Structures (PE req.) Description
Our client in the design and engineering industry is looking to add a Senior Structural Engineer to their team near Grand Rapids, MI. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for all engineering aspects of energy-efficient commercial projects from design to completion. Our client is looking for an experienced Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at least five years of structural engineering experience, in the design and engineering of wood structures and/or steel structures. Ideal candidates will have worked on small to mid-size commercial construction projects and be comfortable working with clients, and internal and external teams. To be successful in the role, you must be organized and proactive in identifying and resolving issues and possess strong communication and project management skills. Senior Structural Engineer, Sustainable / Energy Efficient Structures (PE req.) Responsibilities
• Lead the design and engineering of various small-to-mid-sized commercial building projects
• Manage all phases of engineering projects from design to completion
• Ensure that all designs meet local, state, and national building and residential codes
• Conduct load calculations, wind, seismic, and gravity analysis for structures
• Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications, structural plans, and calculations
• Work with architects, contractors, and internal teams to integrate solutions into project designs
• Act as the point of contact for clients regarding structural design aspects of assigned projects
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
Senior Structural Engineer, Sustainable / Energy Efficient Structures (PE req.) Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
• 5+ years of structural engineering experience required
• 5+ years of designing and engineering wood and/or steel structures experience required
• Experience with commercial 1-3 story buildings, multi-unit, retail or similar required
• Experience with ASCE 7, International Building (IBC) and Residential (IRC) Codes required
• Experience with structural software tools and notational mathematical software required
• P.E. license (in at least one state) required
