Job Overview

We are thrilled to present an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Environmental Biologist to join our Resource Management Team as an Assistant Project Manager. This position primarily supports our Environmental Planning division, situated in Riverside, CA, with potential for collaboration across various office locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in project management activities, including the coordination of tasks, oversight of biological studies, report writing, and consultation with resource agencies.
  • Execute field surveys, such as plant and wildlife assessments, vegetation mapping, nesting bird research, and restoration monitoring.
  • Conduct pre-construction surveys and biological monitoring as required.
  • Aid in the proposal development process by preparing scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and contributing to broader marketing initiatives.
  • Organize and coordinate field studies, manage biological staff and subconsultants, and ensure the accuracy and clarity of technical reports.
  • Manage financial components by preparing and tracking invoices and ensuring adherence to project budgets.
  • Foster collaboration by actively participating in meetings, engaging with various stakeholders, and informally mentoring junior staff.
  • Build and maintain a client contact list to promote repeat business opportunities.

Required Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Wildlife Biology, or a related environmental field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a biological role.
  • Proficiency in Southern California’s biological resources, including knowledge of prevalent plant and wildlife species, regulatory frameworks, and survey methodologies.
  • Familiarity with federal and state Endangered Species Acts, State Fish and Game Codes, and NEPA/CEQA, with an understanding of the Clean Water Act considered advantageous.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience within a consulting firm or resource agency is preferred.
  • Willingness to develop expertise in specialized surveys and capability to navigate off-road conditions.
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork, including transporting supplies through rugged terrain.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Biologist.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: The salary range for this position is \(70,000 - \)85,000, commensurate with experience.
