Job description

Position: Medical Coder - Remote

We are excited to invite a meticulous and skilled Medical Coder to become part of our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the precise and timely processing of medical claims, collaborating closely with healthcare providers to uphold coding standards and enhance reimbursement outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily coding audits, ensuring accurate auditing and coding of Evaluation & Management (E&M) visits by extracting necessary information from operative reports and other relevant documents.
  • Assign appropriate CPT codes, modifiers, and ICD-10 codes to billing documents to guarantee compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide education and constructive feedback on coding and billing practices to healthcare providers to foster ongoing improvement.
  • Research, correct, resubmit, and appeal denied claims to secure maximum reimbursement.
  • Stay informed with evolving payer policies and industry standards to ensure adherence to compliance.
  • Maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 90%.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills, along with the ability to multitask and stay organized.
  • Self-motivated individual with a commitment to ongoing learning and staying current with industry trends and coding practices.
  • Must possess a valid certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS-P).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of medical coding experience is essential. Experience with coding for Asthma, Allergy, or Colorectal Surgery is advantageous.
