We are excited to announce multiple openings for Distribution Design Engineers, with opportunities to work under two different leaders. Some positions will report to a Team Lead for Distribution Customer Projects, while others will report directly to a Manager for Underground Residential Development (URD) & Customer Choice. Major Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow company and industry best practices and standards to ensure projects are designed and planned in a manner that mitigates safety risks, construction risks, meets stakeholder requirements and business financial objectives.

  • Produce high-quality individual contributor work.

  • Provides technical reviews of designs for the work group to ensure high-quality, and compliant designs are produced.

  • Review the work of other design team members and provide feedback on any technical and standards issues identified.

  • Review and authenticate the technical work of others as required.

  • Execute projects/programs within the Power Delivery capital plan to meet or beat defined constraints including scope, cost, schedule, EHS and quality.

  • Provide regular progress reporting including financial forecasting, variance explanations, schedule, safety, quality and risk status.

  • Maintain a high level of communication with the customer and strive for the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Stay current on industry and professional association best practices and developments.

  • To provide coverage for the Senior Engineer responsibilities if required.

  • Build relationships and support the Managers/Program Leads business line responsibilities and objectives.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline

  • P.L. (Eng.) or P.Eng. status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a strong focus on distribution design

  • In depth knowledge of the technical requirements of electrical distribution design

  • Knowledge and experience with applicable electrical and Utility design codes (IEEE, CEC, AECUC, etc.)

  • Distribution &/or Network Cable Routing & project management experience

  • Experience with municipal and provincial permitting (eg: Utility Line Assignments)

  • Experience with proximity agreement, crossing agreements, etc

  • Knowledge and experience with Bluebeam and PLS-CADD software would be considered an asset

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

Location:  This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
