The Director of Retail Sales North America will report to the Senior Director Retail Sales Americas and is responsible for executing growth strategies, conducting market analysis, and building client relationships within the grocery and/or general merchandise industry. This role involves driving sales initiatives, forming strategic partnerships, and customizing our solutions to meet industry and client needs. The director will have the responsibility of building and leading a high-performance team as the grocery/general merchandise business gains traction.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Head of North America Sales and senior leaders to develop and implement strategies to drive growth and market penetration in the grocery/general merchandise industry in North America
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the grocery/general merchandise industry
  • Execute sales initiatives to achieve revenue targets, including negotiating contracts and closing deals across the DN portfolio of hardware, software, and services solutions
  • Articulate DN value to potential customers with Commercial financial acumen and advise on the customer journey
  • Manage sales forecast and opportunities within the grocery/general merchandise industry
  • Identify and build strategic partnerships with grocery chains and technology partners to enhance DN solution offerings
  • Collaborate with product development to tailor solutions to the specific needs of customers in the grocery/general merchandise industry
  • Align business development strategies with company goals in collaboration with marketing, product, and operations teams
  • Supervise a team to drive both existing and new business development efforts in the grocery/general merchandise industry, with the responsibility for scaling the team as the business gains traction and sales increase
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, market feedback, and industry trends to refine grocery/general merchandise strategy and improve outcomes
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to build brand awareness and network with potential customers


Qualifications


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Business Development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Retail Store procedures and the utilization of technology within the environment, particularly in the grocery/general merchandise industry
  • Knowledge of Software and Service solution sales
  • Proven success in high quota carrying position.
  • Consultative sales experience with complex solution design
  • Exhibit skills, characteristics, traits and work habits that greatly enhance the likelihood of success as a Sales Manager, ex: solution-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset, time and territory management, customer empathy.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, strategic planning, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills at all levels of the organization, including senior executive levels.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to support sales team needs


Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive Knowledge of Retail Store procedures and the utilization of technology within the environment.
  • General knowledge of Diebold Nixdorf products and services is a plus.
  • Proven track record in leading and developing a quota carrying Sales Team.
  • Consultative sales experience at C Level.
  • Exhibit skills, characteristics, traits and work habits that greatly enhance the likelihood of success as a Sales Manager.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, strategic planning, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills at all levels of the organization, including senior executive levels.
  • Proficient in all MS Office products with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams.

Salary Range: $155,000 to $185,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including your qualifications, skills, competencies, geographic location, internal equity, and relevant experience. You may also be eligible to participate in a long term incentive plan and a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the plan and/or program, whereby an award, if any, may depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
