Position: Paginator

Position Type: Full Time, Permanent

Location: (Remote) Hamilton, Ontario

Award-winning journalists and innovative product development teams bring engaging content to millions of people every week whenever and wherever they want it. The National Post provides political and other news to the full network.

What we are looking for:

Postmedia Editorial Services is looking for a versatile Paginator with the skills to produce weekly and daily newspaper pages that grab attention and engage readers. Editing experience is a plus.

Duties:

  • Layout and design a high volume of newspaper pages, including fronts and feature pages, for our weekly and daily newspapers.
  • Work as part of a tight-knit team in a high-pressure environment to achieve excellence in newspaper design.
  • Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality control.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Superb layout and design abilities; strong typography skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with good attention to detail; Exceptional ability to spot errors in layout style.
  • Well organized, with excellent communication skills and an ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency with InDesign; Experience with Saxo CMS an asset.
  • Efficient and calm under pressure; The successful applicant is expected to balance accuracy and speed and be fully accountable for work.
  • Experience in a fast-paced daily newsroom.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • A keen eye for detail and ensure the highest quality of work is being produced.
  • Equally comfortable editing arts, sports and news copy or reshaping display type.
  • Talent for writing clever headlines with clarity that capture the essence of a story.
  • Excellent grammar, comprehension and editing skills.
