The Biopharma, Patient & CDI (C4) team builds and maintains the platforms and capabilities that enable Pfizer Business Units to connect digitally with our external customers and effectively engage and collaborate across teams internally. Platforms and Engineering: Within C4, the Platform and Engineering team is accountable for engineering leadership and integrated platforms evolution across marketing technology programs that enable Pfizer to deliver high-quality, multi-channel experiences via web, mobile, messaging, and connected devices for external customers.
The AWS Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for delivering AWS based capabilities across complex cutting-edge technical solutions for multiple business units. This role servers as the bridge between business requirements and infrastructure, translating stakeholder needs into innovative and scalable solutions built on the AWS portfolio.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Subject Matter Expertise - General
- Design and architect AWS infrastructure for technical solutions that address stakeholder needs while adhering to best practices, industry standards, and Pfizer's technology strategies
- Develop detailed technical specifications, system architectures, and implementation plans for AWS infrastructure
- Oversee the implementation of AWS infrastructure ensuring adherence to the defined technical architecture and design principles
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, security protocols, and industry best practices related to AWS infrastructure delivery
- Maintain and evolve infrastructure delivery pipelines including evaluation of emergent technologies
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers to ensure high standards of infrastructure design from project inception and through to delivery
- Identify optimization opportunities to maximize the value of our infrastructure investment
- Design and maintain foundational shared infrastructure services
Strategic Leadership & Delivery
- Take risk-based approach to advance innovative processes and methodologies based on comprehensive business knowledge for evaluation and recommendation of appropriate technologies, platforms, and frameworks, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and integration with existing systems
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and drive the adoption of new solutions and strategies
Resource and Financial Management
- Manages and leads people, technological and financial resources within the Business Unit, lead by influence rather than direct authority
Cross- Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Delivery Lead, Service Owners, stakeholders, and development teams to gather and analyze business requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Technical Services Leads and Platform teams, to ensure seamless integration and support for solutions with Pfizer's digital platforms and technologies
- Use a variety of communication tools and techniques to present complex ideas; Anticipates potential objections and influences others
Coaching and Mentorship
- Conduct technical design reviews and solution evaluations to ensure alignment with business requirements, technological constraints, and industry best practices
- Actively shares knowledge with multiple functions in Global Business Unit through existing knowledge sharing processes/systems on technical design reviews and solution evaluations to ensure alignment with business requirements, technological constraints, and industry best practices
- Contributes to the development of organizational knowledge management processes/systems
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- 7+ years of extensive experience in solution architecture, technical design, and implementation of complex software systems, with a focus on infrastructure delivered using AWS
- Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure delivery technologies, platforms, and frameworks, along with their strengths, limitations, and integration capabilities
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and trade-offs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies, project management practices, and software development life cycles
- Passion for exploring emerging technologies and driving innovation in the field of solution and service infrastructure
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, robust, and scalable technical solutions
- Demonstrated expertise with infrastructure-as-code principles with experience specifically gained using HashiCorp Terraform
Nice-to-Have
- Experience gained in the life sciences industry or in a similarly regulated industry such as legal or finance
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- AWS Certified Sysops Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
