Under the general supervision of the Director of Grants and Community Engagement, the Workforce Development Coordinator plans, organizes, coordinates, promotes, and facilitates trainings, meetings, conferences, and events for the mental health and behavioral health industry. The Workforce Development Coordinator works directly with and cultivates relationships with mental health and behavioral health organizations and stakeholders throughout Wayne County to develop and execute approximately 60-100 events per year.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, promotes, and facilitates trainings, meetings, conferences, and events, both large-scale and intimate, for the community mental health industry.
- Works directly with and cultivates relationships with mental health and behavioral health organizations and stakeholders throughout Wayne County.
- Develops, organizes, and produces approximately 60-100 events per year.
- Reviews advertising requests and forms for printed materials and proofreads documents created to ensure accuracy.
- Enters, analyzes, and interprets data and prepares detailed reports.
- Serves as a liaison between departments and outside vendors related to each event.
- Manages and ensures approved event budgets are maximized efficiently and effectively and finds cost savings where appropriate.
- Develops and proposes event themes for DWIHN events.
- Organizes production meetings prior to scheduled event dates.
- Assists the Director of Grants and Community Engagement with preparing and reviewing all planned events.
- Ensures exceptional customer service for both internal and external event attendees.
- Ensures that each event follows strict checklist and procedure protocols for successful execution.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in the Human Services, Social Services, Public Health, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Health Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Social Work, Public Relations, Sociology, or a related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of professional experience conducting trainings, seminars, organizing conferences, or coordinating meetings and events.
REQUIRED LICENSE(S).
A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is usually performed in an office setting but requires the employee to drive to different sites throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan. This position can work remotely with supervisory approval. Currently this position is a hybrid position.
