Job description

ROLE TITLE: Senior Managing Director, Senior Designer

POSITION REPORTS TO: Sunanna Chand, Executive Director, Reinvention Lab

APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 1, 2024 at 11:59pm ET

LOCATION: Flexible

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As adrienne maree brown says, "longing moves towards longing." We're seeking an innovative educator and product designer to create learning experiences that people truly long for. Not because we care about "scale" for scale's sake, but because we believe deeply that engaging, modern education shouldn't be limited to those with the luxury to pay for it or the luck to come across it. Through Teach For America's network, you'll have the opportunity to impact many young people who have been overlooked by traditional education systems.

Our "products" aren't typically software—they're learning experiences like FutureShock or our AI Hackathons.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Lead cross-functional project teams to develop and improve educational programs

  • Identify needs among students and educators through user research

  • Design, test, and refine innovative learning experiences

  • Create and communicate clear strategies based on testing and research

  • Track program impact and make data-driven decisions about which initiatives to grow or "compost"

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

  • 60%: Research, design, and implementation of new learning experiences

  • 20%: Strategy development and alignment with team and TFA leadership

  • 10%: Documentation and sharing learnings internally and externally, including keynote and session speaker engagements

  • Travel: 25-50% depending on the season

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in innovative education environments that challenge traditional models (read our definition of innovative learning here).

  • Exceptional facilitation skills with ability to adapt in real-time to participant needs

  • Expertise in product design, including roadmaps and impact measurement, as well as ethical, consent-based user research and rapid prototyping

  • Recent experience (within last 3 years) driving innovation in public schools

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

  • Recent experience (within last 3 years) driving innovation in public schools

  • Experience with emerging technologies

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

At The Reinvention Lab, we believe learning shouldn't be constrained by traditional models. Our team works to reimagine education that's engaging, relevant, and accessible to all students. Learn more at www.reinventionlab.org/learn
