Associate Surveying Manager

Sedgwick Building Consultancy Division is part of Sedgwick International. You will be working within a varied team which includes APC candidates, experienced MRICS surveyors and Chartered Engineers.

Our business has grown considerably over the last few years, with huge opportunities still to be capitalised on in both the insurance and non-insurance markets. To support that growth we have a fantastic opportunity for a surveying manager to join our team. This opportunity is available to candidates from across the UK.

Working with a Regional Director, you will lead a team of surveyors who are  involved in projects to reinstate commercial and domestic properties following damage by an insured peril. Projects typically range in value from £50k to £5m.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring, training and development of your team

  • Ensuring your team meet their targets for client service, technical reporting and quality

  • Promotion and delivery of our goal of “making claims easy for everyone”

  • Understanding the importance of excellent customer care, and deliver that with your team

  • Developing and then meeting financial targets for your team, and understanding how you can influence the financial outcomes

  • Liaison with insurer clients as required, and understanding their bespoke requirements

  • Building collaborative working relationships with other internal product lines

You will be required to work very closely with colleagues in the Loss Adjusting teams to build relationships. An ability to bring non-insurance clients would be valued. You will have/will be:

  • The desire and ability to deliver excellent customer service

  • Proven management skills, and the confidence to lead a high performing team dealing with complex claims 

  • First class communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload under pressure

  • The ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with colleagues, and understand and satisfy their needs

  • A building related degree

  • As a minimum actively working towards Chartered status

  • An interest in sustainability and a passion to assist our plans to reach net carbon zero

  • Full UK driving licence essential

  • Knowledge of building construction and relevant legislation

  • Able to plan projects to ensure robust control of time, cost and quality

  • Highly responsible and decisive, but also a team player

  • Able to proactively manage your own caseload

  • I.T. literate, particularly with MS Word and Excel

  • Able to appreciate the importance of delivering outstanding customer service
