Job description

About Density:

Density’s mission is to measure and improve our footprint on the world.

We help companies understand how their workplaces are used. We do that by observing behavior in the office through our highly accurate and always anonymous sensors. In other words: where are people actually spending their time? We translate that data into actionable, opinionated insights that help companies increase the financial and experiential performance of any workplace.

Today, we work with companies from Fortune 500s to high growth innovators in technology, financial services and healthcare, occupying more than a billion square feet worldwide. And we’re in it for the long game: what if we knew more, created better spaces, and could build cities that worked and felt better?

That’s where you come in...

The Opportunity:

The Director of People will plan, lead, develop, and drive implementation of the People operation within Density. This includes recruitment and retention, benefits management, performance management, employee relations, compensation strategy, development and deployment of policy and process, and manager and employee training cycles.

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with the extended leadership team at Density to steer the culture of the organization as it manages growth and the associated complexities.
  • Develop and execute the global People strategy aligned with the company's business objectives.
  • Continue to improve People Operations, Development, and Experience through contribution of new thoughts, ideas, and approaches, as needed.
  • Own recruiting and evolve the new candidate journey to achieving success with hiring and providing support and representation during executive sessions.
  • Partner with functional leaders to build leadership capability within their own teams. Design with them how their teams will optimize organizational effectiveness.
  • Support a culture of high performance through goal setting and alignment, helping managers have impactful feedback conversations with their teams, architecting development paths/programs, and managing performance.
  • Improve key training and development programs that increase the early productivity of new employees and provide people managers at different levels with the right tools to be successful leaders.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of global competitive compensation and benefits programs.
  • Help shape organizational communication across our global employee sites and teams, ensuring clear communication of goals, expectations, and behaviors aligning with core values and growth objectives.

Relevant Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree
  • minimum 8+ years of relevant, progressive career experience
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple Human Resources disciplines, including benefits, employee relations, talent development, compensation, and employee engagement
  • Strong working knowledge of HR policies and laws
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with multiple functional areas in a collaborative, team environment
  • Highly self-motivated and ambitious in achieving goals
  • A critical thinker who can foresee potential obstacles and consider alternative approaches
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency to respond to and address the needs of the company
  • Keen attention to detail; possesses exceptional organizational, and time-management skills

Job Compensation Range:

Salary Range: $185,000 - $200,000

Preferred Primary Location: Commuting distance to San Francisco

This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum in office 3 days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
