Job description

Quality Software Engineer / Software Engineer In Test (SDET)

Overview: Bainbridge Health unlocks the full value of pharmacy data to enhance the safety, efficiency and reliability of medications. Our goal is to make it easier for pharmacy and safety leaders to prevent patient harm, reduce avoidable waste, and help clinicians regain control of their time. A spin-out company of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we work with premier health systems, device manufacturers, and pharmaceutical companies across the United States. We are venture-backed, growing quickly, and excited to build a great team and technology to make healthcare better.

About the Role: Bainbridge Health is seeking a Quality Software Engineer to join the Engineering Team. As an early member of the Engineering Team, you will be responsible for overseeing product and data quality and compliance, metrics gathering, incident response, customer support, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of quality and compliance. You will be a key participant in the software development lifecycle and customer data management practice, acting as an advocate and subject matter expert for quality and compliance. Your success will be measured by our ability to meet or exceed our service objectives, respond to incidents and customer support tickets in a timely fashion, and achieve and maintain relevant third-party quality and compliance audits. Here’s what you will be doing:

Core Customer Responsibilities

  • Participate in the software development lifecycle to assist with the design, planning, implementation, delivery and on-going maintenance of the Med OS Platform and supporting applications.
  • Coordinate and document releases with the engineering, operations, and customer teams.
  • Implement and monitor test scripts and metrics to assess functionality, reliability, performance, and quality of products and data.
  • Identify, document, and coordinate correction of defects across the SDLC and data management practice.
  • Recommend, implement, and monitor preventative and corrective actions to ensure that quality assurance standards are achieved.
  • Ensure that user expectations are met during the testing process.
  • Coordinate with Customer Success to respond to customer concerns.
  • Coordinate with Operations on incident response.
  • Review and update quality assurance policies and procedures on a regular basis to ensure on-going compliance with relevant industry standards and customer expectations.
    • Participate in weekly and monthly Engineering team rituals and processes to plan, review, implement and sustain the Med OS Platform.

Additional Responsibilities & Activities

  • Develop, investigate and report team metrics gathered from a variety of sources.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on quality control and compliance outside of the SDLC when appropriate, for example during product, vendor, and customer evaluation activities.

About You: This is a unique engineering opportunity to join a growing start-up and grow your quality assurance and compliance skills.

  • You are excited about quality control and compliance in healthcare data applications.
  • You believe quality control and compliance is a continuous, holistic process, and not just flipping the right switches one time.
  • You believe mentorship and knowledge sharing are the foundations of successful quality control and compliance.
  • You want a career that produces meaningful value in society.
  • You believe strongly in teamwork and collaboration.
  • You can communicate complex ideas in an approachable and accessible manner.
  • You are capable of giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development in the context of web applications and services using tools such as Cucumber, Gherkin, Puppeteer, Chrome Dev Tools Protocol, or Selenium.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript and UNIX shell scripting.
  • Experience working with SQL and business intelligence reporting tools, such as Looker.
  • Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions, or a similar CI/CD tool.
  • Experience in an agile software development environment, and continuous integration and delivery practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of initiative, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Independent thinker with the ability to find the tools and resources to be successful.
