$74,300.00 - $138,100.00
At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company’s incentive plans, the Company’s financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

“This position requires direct or indirect access to certain confidential information, hardware, software, technology, or technical information (referred to here as “Export-Controlled Information”) controlled under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Title: Sales Systems Engineer
Reports to: Senior Director, Systems Engineering
Based at: Remote /Texas
The Sales Systems Engineer is the primary technical resource for the regional Sales manager. Responsible for actively driving and managing the technology proposition and evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for the Infinera product portfolio. The Systems Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business commercial and technical customers. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a first role in Systems Engineering, with excellent career development potential.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Managing and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with customers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs.
- Articulating to customers that a product or design solution best satisfies their requirements in terms of reliability, scalability, price and delivery.
- Supporting the development and delivery of technical product presentations / demonstrations.
- Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.
- Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
- Able to convey customer feature requirements to corporate Product Line Management teams.
- Able to travel throughout the sales region.
- Develop and grow long-term relationships with customers.
- Producing customer orderable quotations.
- Provide after-sales support services.
- Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts.
Personal profile – Sales Systems Engineer
Personality: You will be self-driven with a positive outlook and comfortable in dealing with both internal and external (customer) contacts. You will be reliable and determined with excellent communication skills able to see things from another person's perspective. You are well-presented and business like and sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to a few days a month within the region / U.S.
Specific Job Skills:
- Exposure to optical and transmission systems engineering with knowledge of telecommunications, especially DWDM transmission systems, will be helpful.
- Presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to learn Telecommunication Network Planning (long-haul, metro, access)
- Possess a strong ability to turn concepts through the design cycle including solution development and cost modelling
- An articulate communicator, with excellent writing and social skills and an analytical approach to provide appropriate solutions to whichever tasks are presented.
Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate must be self-motivated and interested in gaining knowledge of Long-haul, Metro, Access and Mobile technologies. The candidate must also be comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical sales organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFP’s and when submitting reports. Must also be organized, analytical and able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
- BS Degree in Engineering
- Experience and familiarity of Infinera products desirable
