Position Summary
Rewiring America has transitioned rapidly from a fiscally sponsored entity to an independent 501(c)(3), now managing an annual budget of $45-50 million. As we continue our fast-paced growth, we are expanding our in-house Finance team, with the Director of FP&A playing a pivotal role in driving our next stage of organizational development. This inaugural position is essential to building the financial systems and strategies that will ensure our long-term success and sustainability.
In this newly-created position, the Director of FP&A will play a pivotal role in establishing, refining and keeping our financial systems running smoothly. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director of FP&A will oversee all budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and supplemental financial analyses to support strategic business decisions. This role requires advanced strategic thinking and communication skills, as the Director of FP&A will serve as liaison with senior management and department heads to prepare financial and strategic plans for individual departments and the wider organization.
What You’ll Do
Team Leadership
- Manage a transition from outsourced finance and accounting support to internal staff capacity.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with executive leadership, the board of directors, auditors, investors, and other stakeholders to address financial concerns, provide insights, and support decision-making processes.
- Under the CFO’s leadership, support building and leading a high-performing finance team, including scoping, hiring, onboarding and leading new hires.
Financial Strategy, Planning and Analysis
- Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's financial strategy.
- Own and continuously refine the company’s FP&A model and conduct financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.
- Work with various constituents of the organization to develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts, leveraging outside support as needed.
- Work with the Director of Grants and Compliance to support the Investment team in compiling new grant proposals and associated project budgets to grow immediate funding, long term funding, and planned gifts.
Financial Reporting:
- Create a unified KPI framework and systemized reporting.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports, statements, and summaries to senior management, investors, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
- Meet regularly with budget managers to review budget to actual reports, and reforecast revenue and expenses.
- Lead production of monthly finance reviews, including monthly liquidity forecasts that incorporate donor intent and spend. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to senior leadership.
Collaboration and Integration:
- Work closely with program leaders to create budgets and educate them on finance and procedures.
- Explore ways the finance function can support program operations.
- Partner with the CFO, Controller, Planning and Operations team and senior leadership to enhance integration across functions.

Requirements
The successful candidate thrives in a fast growing organization. A clear track record of performance and adaptability in changing environments is critical. The selected candidate will also possess the following Core and Preferred qualifications and characteristics:
Core
- Strong commitment to the mission, policies and goals of Rewiring America.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive financial management experience.
- Non-profit organizational finance experience, c3 and c4 work preferred.
- Financial Expertise: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and contribute to the organization's overall strategy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team management and leadership skills.
- Clear, persuasive communicator.
- Excellent discretion, ethics and judgment given access to highly confidential financial and related information.
Preferred
- Experience working with NetSuite.
- Excellent references demonstrating a strong track record in financial leadership and management.
Benefits
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is$130,000 - $170,000 USD, commensurate with experience.

- Full Time Employees will receive 160 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 24 hours of volunteer leave annually.
- Employees will also receive 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year (13 days during Presidential and Congressional elections).
- We have an office closure between Christmas and New Year.
- Regular, full-time employees and part-time employees are eligible to take up to sixteen weeks of parental leave, in all cases related to birth, adoption, or foster care starting from the first day of employment.
