Key Responsibilities

  • Administer career interest assessments to aid students in identifying suitable career paths.
  • Offer personalized career counseling to individual students and groups, assisting them in crafting tailored career plans.
  • Facilitate both in-person and virtual sessions for students, families, and staff, including job readiness workshops and career exploration guidance.
  • Coordinate a range of career exploration activities, such as guest speaker engagements, field trips, and job shadowing opportunities in collaboration with school staff.
  • Work closely with educators and school administrators to infuse career counseling into the educational experience through business visits and other engaging activities.
  • Establish partnerships with community organizations and businesses to provide enriching career experiences for students.
  • Organize and oversee job readiness initiatives, including mock interviews, career fairs, and essential skills training programs.
  • Assist students in securing internships, apprenticeships, and relevant work experiences.
  • Contribute to the development of career resources and ensure the availability of self-service career tools for students.
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences, and events related to youth career development.
  • Undertake additional duties as necessary to support program objectives.

Required Skills

  • 2+ years of experience working with youth in education, workforce development, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with K-12 educational environments is preferred.
  • Strong grasp of career counseling theories and methodologies, particularly with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management abilities to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel and Word.
  • Experience in conducting workshops and delivering presentations is a plus.
  • A strong commitment to outstanding service delivery to students and the community.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in education or workforce development.
  • Previous work within a K-12 school system is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of career counseling principles and techniques.
