Job Overview:
Leads Quality Control Department in:

  • Identify quality partners via approved supplier process.

  • Ensuring quality of design through iterative detailed testing process during EVT (Engineering Validation Testing), DVT (Design Validation Testing) and PVT (Production Validation Testing) stages.

  • Component level quality control via inline testing at CM (Contract Manufacturer) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer).

  • End of line quality control through lot testing of completed goods.

  • Infield failure response via RMA and QC root cause analysis and working with ODM/CM in addressing issues.

The QC Manager, Manages, develops, implements, and maintains quality control systems and activities. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the quality and reliability of company products. Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. QC Manager initiatives are directed to consistently prevent failures and realize continuous, systematic and sustainable improvements in our products / systems and processes in order to ensure the customer's satisfaction. Manages the professional work of the QC team to complete all relevant activities and work products.

 

Qualifications


Responsibilities:

  • Manages, develops, implements and maintains technical quality control systems.

  • Actively leads and develops a Quality Engineering team with agility to address technical issues in support of the internal and external program and CM/ODM production teams.

  • Manages quality engineers who develop quality plans, flow charts, inspection methods, procedures, and standards, including detailed inspection/testing instructions, check lists, sampling plans, classification of defects, etc. to assure all products meet process, system, and contractual quality requirements.

  • Ensures that quality engineering effectively reviews, interprets, and communicates quality requirements to CMs/ODMs and internal engineering teams.

  • Must communicate and interface successfully with external and internal groups by discussing quality specifications and actions taken to prevent or correct problems with our products.

  • Manages Supplier Approval Process.

  • Manages and implements EVT/DVT/PVT test plans to ensure quality of design and manufacturing.

  • Manages finished goods inspection and testing process.

  • Supports all CM and ODM quality efforts including ORT (on-going reliability testing), device failure logistics, test station approval, etc...

  • Leads and manages quality engineering teams that effectively perform investigations to determine the root cause for product and process nonconformance.

  • Ensures that quality engineering initiates and follows-up on inspection and test methods and procedures to ascertain proper administration and compliance with all requirements.

  • Leads, mentors, and assists in preparing quality cost estimates for proposals including estimates for special facilities, services and techniques required for performance of the proposed programs.

  • Prepares job descriptions and successfully interviews and hires proficient candidates for the Quality Engineering Team.

  • Lead Root Cause investigations and Corrective and Preventative actions.

  • Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the quality and reliability of company products.

  • Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations.

  • Define measures and key indicators to guide improvements.

  • Keep in contact with internal business partners, manufacturing locations and cross-divisional.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a role where required to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience directly managing others within a Quality Organization.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Preferably consumer electronics.

  • Excellent communication both verbal and written.

  • Experience communicating with other departments and working Cross functionally.

  • ISO experience is a plus.

  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally, sometimes at a very short notice, approximately 20% of the time.

  • Experience with Product and Process Validations: IQ, PQ, OQ a plus.
