Accounting and Tax Advisor - Canary Islands

Location: Spain (remote)

✍️ About the role:

We are looking for an Accounting and Tax Advisor with strong expertise of taxation regulations in Canary Islands as well as mainland Spain. In this role, you will be in charge of registering our freelancer clients with the tax and social security authorities, complying with all their tax and accounting obligations as well as advising our clients on their taxation and accounting related questions. You will collaborate with colleagues from customer success and product teams who will support you along the way in addition to your own team members. To streamline your everyday work, you have Xolo’s software which has automated many of the routine accounting processes to save your time and brainpower for more meaningful, value-adding tasks. Working as an Accounting and Tax Advisor at Xolo will bring you the opportunity to learn about different customer’s business models, ensuring that each day will bring you new opportunities to expand your professional expertise.

It's important to note that in this role, you're expected to guide our clients through the unique requirements of taxation regulations specific to the Canary Islands, where reporting and compliance rules for freelancers can differ from those in mainland Spain. 


✅ As an Accounting and Tax Advisor at Xolo, you will:

  • Register our freelancer clients as self-employed before the Tax Authorities and Social Security.
  • Manage the tax returns (quarterly, annual, etc.), as well as any other tax or accounting obligations on behalf of our clients.
  • Provide expertise on tax reporting specific to the Canary Islands, ensuring compliance for our clients based there.
  • Support the Customer Success team and other teams in accounting and tax matters.
  • Advise our clients to solve any queries that require your specialized knowledge in accounting and taxation.
  • Collaborate with the Spain team and the product team to define the internal processes that allow us to provide the best service to our clients.

  • Have in-depth knowledge of the tax and accounting systems in Spain, particularly for freelancers, and a strong understanding of the taxation regulations in the Canary Islands.
  • Have more than 3 years of experience working as a tax advisor, manager and/or in agencies, especially serving self-employed clients.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
