Position Summary
LEE is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven expert in the areas of event planning, production, and project management to support the Member teams and Office of the President in the execution of LEE’s 2025 senior leader conference. The Director, Event Planning & Production (Temporary) will be responsible for guiding people and processes through the internal planning and execution of the conference, while also establishing an overall approach to external stakeholder experience at LEE events.
The Director will thrive in collaboration and cross-functional communication in order to deliver timely outcomes and high-caliber experiences for LEE members, senior leaders, and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have past experiences curating high quality, on brand experiences for senior-level and external stakeholders, with exceptional skills in organization and communication.
The Director, Event Planning & Production is a full-time temporary position on the Leadership Development & Design (LDD) team reporting into the Vice President, LDD with an end date of 07/31/2025.
Position Location: Flexible
Travel Requirements: 5-10% travel
Responsibilities
Project Management (45%)
- Collaborate with Member Impact teams and Office of the President to execute on the vision and strategy for LEE’s 2025 senior leader conference, taking place in Spring of 2025
- Project manage LEE’s senior leader conference, including maintenance of all project documentation including goals, roles, timelines, and key decisions
- Lead and facilitate conference-related internal planning, decision-making, and preparation meetings
- Conduct follow up with all workstream owners to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met
- Identify and, as needed, project manage multiple external vendors for programming needs
- Facilitate between the member and external stakeholder workstreams to ensure seamless planning and execution
External Experience at Programs (20%)
- Collaborate with the Office of the President and member teams on the strategy and vision for external stakeholder experience at in-person programs
- Consult on the design of high-quality, elevated program experiences, including content, branding, and interactive elements that resonate with members and guests
- Design a scalable implementation plan for program teams to use for engagement with external stakeholders at programming
Event Execution (15%)
- Serve as point person for external stakeholders, managing their experience during programs, from start to finish
- Address and resolve any challenges that arise during the event to ensure a positive experience for all participants
Analysis & Continuous Improvement (10%)
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess success, gather member, stakeholder, and leadership feedback, and identify areas for improvement
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, incorporating new ideas to enhance event quality and impact
- Produce a summary report out to document key takeaways from the program
Special Projects (10%)
- Engage in team-level, org-wide, or cross-team special projects as assigned by manager or designee
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience (If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required. If you hold an Associate’s degree an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.)
- 6+ years of relevant professional experience in planning and executing polished, professional events
- Exceptional detail orientation, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience curating meaningful, values-aligned experiences for senior-level leadership and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, prioritize time, and manage implementation of plans in fast-moving, changeable environments
- Emotional intelligence including an ability to stay calm under pressure and de-escalate challenging situations
- Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, & inclusion
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
- Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE’s mission and theory of change
Preferred Qualifications
- Creativity and ability to implement innovative ideas to improve process management
- Experience with Asana or a similar project management tool, tracking metrics and progress to goals
Physical Requirements & Work Demands
- The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with staff or access office equipment.
- The person in this position will need to have the ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities.
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.

Pay And Benefits
The position level for this role is Director 2 and the corresponding hourly pay range for this position is $43.56-$67.96. Pay is competitive and based upon relevant experience and cost of labor for your location.
