As a Sr Actuarial Analyst, you will be empowered, supported and encouraged to use your actuarial expertise as you perform financial analyses and build models that improve health plan competitiveness.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret quantitative data to create and review both standard and ad hoc exhibits based on detailed data sets
  • Perform data mining and analysis that impacts foundational pricing and risk assumptions
  • Extract and compile group-specific utilization data to support customer reporting requirements
  • Translate numerical analyses into exhibits that effectively convey the results
  • Assist in communicating results to internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, finance, data science, economics or other quantitative field
  • 2+ years of experience collecting, analyzing and summarizing qualitative/quantitative data in a corporate environment
  • Actuarial experience through exams passed or relevant work experience
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with MS Excel; working with formulas, calculations, charts, and graphs
  • Proven excellent communication skills, particularly in conveying complex financial and actuarial topics to non-expert audiences
  • Proven critical thinking skills that allow you to push through the data and find effective solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in finance or the health care industry
  • Experience building quantitative models in SQL (Structured Query Language), SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and/or VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)
  • Basic or higher level of proficiency with MS Access

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
