Responsibilities
As the Lead Backend Web Architect at CooperSurgical Inc., you will be instrumental in driving the backend development of our web applications. Your role involves defining and implementing robust, scalable, and secure server-side architectures, integrating with various databases and third-party services, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front end. You will lead and mentor backend development teams, manage project resources, and collaborate closely with frontend architects and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive and efficient web solutions.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
- Architecting and implementing server-side logic and database integration.
- Leading and mentoring a team of backend developers, setting goals, and overseeing project progress.
- Collaborating with frontend architects to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of web applications.
- Managing resources, including budgeting and staffing for backend development projects.
- Ensuring the security, scalability, and performance of server-side applications.
- Implementing automated testing and deployment strategies for backend services.
- Keeping up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in backend development and advocating for their adoption where beneficial.
- Facilitating communication and integration with external systems and APIs.
- Participating in Agile/Scrum development processes and contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Travel:
This position is available remotely, with occasional travel to the Los Angeles, CA or Trumbull, CT or other remote possibly international locations up to 10% of the year.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in backend programming languages and frameworks, such as Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET, etc.
- Experience with database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.
- Knowledge of server, network, and hosting environments.
- Strong understanding of security principles and compliance standards relevant to web development.
- Ability to design and manage APIs.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment methodologies.
- Experience in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Background in working with HIPAA & PCI Security standards.
- Experience with SaaS platforms.

Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in backend development, with a track record of leading development teams.
- - Demonstrated experience in building and managing large-scale web applications.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $121,000- $161,000. The actual base pay includes many factors, and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
