Job description

Your Next Career Step

At HERO, we develop a modern cloud ERP platform for craftspeople to manage their business. Our mission is as simple as it is bold: By lifting trade businesses to the cloud and helping them to improve and digitize their processes, we do our part for the energy transition and help combat climate change.

After achieving product-market fit in 2021 and recently closing a 40M Series B funding round, we embarked on a journey to further growth fuelled by innovation, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

To reach our goals, we're hiring a collaborative and ambitious Lead Cloud Engineer (f/m/d) to support us in further scaling of our platform and laying the groundwork for a potential international expansion.

In this role, You will drive the cloud infrastructure roadmap, indulge in hands-on DevOps development (~ 50%), and lead a passionate team, reporting directly to our CTO.

Does that sound good? We’d love to hear from you!

Your Mission
  • Cloud Strategy: Planning our cloud infrastructure in terms of scaling, security, and costs together with our CTO

  • Cloud Development: You design, develop and maintain the cloud infrastructure for our HERO SaaS platform

  • Best Practices: Ensuring high quality and maintainability through automation and infrastructure-as-code

  • Infrastructure Leadership: Driving forward your own infrastructure projects and helping to establish best practices

  • Team Expansion: Quickly build and hire a skilled team to complement and support our existing Cloud Engineer and you

  • Team Work: Close exchange with and participation in our backend development team, as well as support for our CI/CD pipelines

Your Superpowers
  • You have experience in planning and building larger modern cloud deployments - AWS, GCP or OpenStack would be an ideal qualification

  • You can demonstrate multi-year in-depth experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform

  • You are proficient in Python, Bash and familiar with Linux system administration

  • Ideally, you already have some experience with Ansible, Prometheus and Go

  • As the position is a first-time leadership assignment in this area, you should be keen to work independently and drive forward your ideas and projects

  • Your German language skills should be fit enough to perform the interview with us in German

Our Promise

:bird: Flexibility & Mobility

  • Work flexibly in the office, at home or at individual workations in other EU-countries (up to 6 months a year)

  • 28 days holiday and additional days off

  • Equipped with HERO tech equipment and a subsidised Germany ticket, you can work anywhere in Germany

:yellow_heart: Health & Wellness

  • Stay fit with the job bike and sports offers from Hansefit

  • Access to Bloom and many mental health offers (including coaching sessions)

  • You also benefit from our additional company health insurance

  • Monthly professional shoulder and neck massage at the Hanover office

:rocket:  Career Growth Opportunities

  • Lots of potential to grow your technical skill set with strong peers

  • A clear HERO career path to the position of department head

  • Get an annual budget for further education and participate in team workshops

  Engineering Culture & Team Spirit

  • State-of-the-art technologies and an agile environment

  • Work in a competent, interdisciplinary team, where you can actively contribute your knowledge and ideas

  • No micromanagement, but a lot of trust into your ability to deliver and perform

  • Enjoy time together in team events, like escape rooms, workshops, and many more!
