CNA currently has an opportunity for a Rating Specialist supporting our US offices.
Under general supervision, handles New Business and or Renewal Rating transactions, including but not limited to New or Renewal business quotes, New or Renewal business rating or pricing revisions for two or more lines of business within Middle Market or Specialty Lines.

Shift: 10 AM - 6 PM ET
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Reviews incoming business transactions and related information for completeness, accuracy, and quality. Works with Underwriter, Underwriting Technician or Associate to resolve any discrepancies and process New or Renewal business related transactions in a timely manner.
- Performs rating to support New or Renewal business quotes for multiple lines of business. Performs manual rating functions for non-system supported coverages.
- Gathers third party data and insurance application data to record information in predictive modeling tools that enable the underwriter new business risk selection and pricing decision process. Data gathering includes reviewing exposures, loss experience and other account information to ensure accurate entry to underwriting proprietary tools and models.
- Regularly reviews department processing guidelines and procedures and provides recommendations as necessary to modify existing guidelines to ensure accuracy.
- Determines workflow activities required to process insurance policy based on line of business.
- Responds to policy service requests from Underwriters, Underwriter Associate and or Underwriting Technician for all levels of complexity across multiple lines of Middle Market business.
- May act as a resource for questions to less experienced peers.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Knowledge of insurance industry and its products and services such as Auto, Workers Comp, Package and Specialty lines within Commercial business.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Be a proven performer against goals and metrics.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work with a demonstrated sense of urgency.
- Vast knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, with a proficient level of experience directly within Excel, and other business-related software.
- Analyzes all available data, guidelines, and metrics to make logical, well-informed, creative, and effective decisions.
- Takes ownership and accountability for resolving issues in a timely manner.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Typically, at least 3 years of multi-line Commercial Specialty lines or prior Rating/ Underwriting experience.

In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $37,000 to $64,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
