Job description

Application Systems Analyst

Position Summary:

This role will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing healthcare applications and systems, with a focus on supporting value-based care initiatives. This position will provide application system administration, monitoring, testing, and maintenance and an elevated level of technical and administrative application support. The Application Systems Analyst will work collaboratively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure application systems are providing the highest level of operational performance and efficiency.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support care management, pharmacy, quality, and population health applications and other applications assigned. Work with vendors to ensure availability and stability of application(s) maximizing uptime.
  • Continuous monitoring of applications and dashboards to ensure data integrity.
  • Maintain and test application security controls.
  • Submit vendor and internal application help desk tickets. Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported, and resolved. Follow tickets to timely resolution.
  • Create, update, and maintain application documentation. Be subject matter expert related to application functionality.
  • Write test plans. Thoroughly evaluate new application functionalities, release notes, bug fixes, and code modifications. Prepare communications to introduce new functionalities and application changes to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure all changes, fixes, and release notes adhere to change management policies. Responsible for producing and presenting proposals to internal Change Advisory Board and communicating with vendor for scheduled release and testing/validation.
  • Communicate downtimes and application issues to internal and external customers through established downtime/service issue protocols. Collaborate with vendors to obtain detailed root cause analyses and proactively work to mitigate risk of issue recurrence.
  • Serve as vendor first point of contact. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Maintain record of issues and product roadmaps. Work with vendors on product management needs.
  • Offer design and technical solutions to enhance or improve applications, processes, and workflows.
  • Develop and execute SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, and reporting using Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Participate in the retrieval and enhancement of clinical data extracts.

Position Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management, Analytics, Business, Math/Science, or related area.
  • Experience with Innovaccer care management and population health tools a plus.


Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present technical topics to a non-technical audience.
  • Project management skill set.
  • Ability to construct and work to deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, data sourcing, blending, and visualization techniques.
  • Working knowledge of reporting, data visualization and BI tools such as SSRS, Business Objects, Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of query language (SQL), statistical packages or languages (SAS, R), and data preparation/integration/aggregation tools or languages (SSIS, Tableau Prep, Alteryx, Python, DAX, and M).
  • Understanding of key concepts in value-based healthcare, such as utilization, quality, benchmarking, predictive modeling, risk stratification, and cost containment. Familiarity with claims data, laboratory data, pharmacy data, ADT data, and standardized healthcare ontologies.
  • Experience with testing, training, implementing, and supporting critical processes.
  • Experience with cross-team collaboration for troubleshooting and solving complex technical and process issues.
