Job Summary

This role provides Toxicology and risk assessment guidance on a wide range of IFF products – food product lines, dietary supplements, probiotics, and industrial applications as well as the support of other IFF businesses as needed. In addition

to the expectations of Toxicologist (Expert), this role reflects a higher level of

responsibility that emphasizes more direct customer interactions and internal technical

decision-making

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the toxicology support of food product lines, dietary supplements, probiotics, and industrial applications as well as the support of other IFF businesses as needed.
  • Provide toxicology and risk assessment support for Nutrition and Bioscience products used across numerous markets through close cooperation with different functions, including product stewardship, commercial, marketing, and R&D.
  • Review new and existing products and processes, as well as develop recommendations on required and appropriate toxicology data collection and research. Requires interfacing with business R&D and Commercial/Marketing functions to define appropriate information needed based on business plans, development opportunities and R&D objectives.
  • Develop toxicology testing plans to support registrations or defense of products.
  • Compose toxicology sections of regulatory dossiers, e.g., novel foods, GRAS, etc.
  • Provide advice and testing strategy for global chemical regulatory requirements (i.e., EU BPR/REACH, USEPA FIFRA/TSCA, Canadian PMRA/DSL, and recent China and Korea programs) for purposes of product testing and registration.
  • Translate complex toxicological information into recommendations and clear messages for a wide range of scientific to non-scientific audiences.
  • Incorporate toxicity and exposure studies to estimate the level of risk that could result from exposure to a known concentration of chemical or biological material to support new product introductions, or to support registration dossiers.
  • Monitor GLP Toxicology studies to ensure compliance with the appropriate protocols, guidelines, and sound scientific practices.
  • Participate in Competent Authorities' meetings as an expert representing IFF Business units.
  • Provide issue management support for products and substances across key external stakeholder groups through active participation in trade associations and via advocacy with governmental agencies.
  • Represent the company on multiple trade associations e.g., IPEC, IFAC, IAFNS, SNE etc.
  • Provide support for customers on toxicological inquiries on all product lines.
