Freelance Video Editor - Veritasium

Veritasium is a world-leading physics and science education YouTube channel. We craft high-quality, in depth videos for a curious, engaged audience that never stops asking the big questions.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Digital Video Editor to join our remote production team on a freelance basis.. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physics, having worked in the science space. You should have experience in creating high-quality digital video / documentary content, and proficiency in video editing software.

The Digital Video Editor will be responsible for creating engaging and informative videos that will help explain complex physics concepts to a broad audience.

This is a freelance contract, on an ad hoc basis in line with upcoming videos.

• Edit high-quality videos that incorporate live action and animation footage, utilising video editing software and and collaborating with animators


• Work closely with writers and researchers to ensure all video content is accurate, informative and engaging


• Sourcing and integrating third party footage to the edit


• Ensure that the channels visual language and editing style built over the last decade is continued within all future edits


• Manage and organise video footage and all final deliverables as per our delivery specifications

• A passion for physics and science with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a broad audience; previous experience working with science material is a must


• 3+ years of experience in video editing and accompanying showreel, with an emphasis on digital content creation and experience with YouTube


• Advanced proficiency in video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and other related software


• A strong understanding of YouTube and other social media platforms and how to optimise content for those platforms


• Experience with self-shooting or working as part of a small camera crew is a big plus


• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask

The ideal candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent time-management skills, and be able to meet tight deadlines while producing high-quality video content.
