The Procurement function is an established team that covers all the categories of third party spend and third-party risk management across the Bank, and is currently executing a two year Transformation plan through investment in technology and people to deliver a strategic service to the business.
You will report directly to the Head of IT Sourcing and will be responsible for providing deep procurement and category experience, knowledge, insight and collateral to deliver competitive advantage for Virgin Money across Technology through lifecycle value generation, demand management and innovation by bringing best in class people, processes and tools together to enable optimal commercial outcomes.
You will also be responsible for collaborating across the Bank, with a specific focus on technology procurement, establishing strong links with key business stakeholders and developing relationships with new and existing partners. What you’ll be doing😎👇
Directly lead a small team and be responsible for setting the direction for the team and drive strategic sourcing activities across a range of third-party products and services for technology
• Lead key procurement initiatives for business units within the IT Sourcing Team
• Collaborate with Business Stakeholders the Category Lead will positively influence each stage of the Supplier Lifecycle and will do so in line with the risk appetite of Virgin Money and the requirements of the Regulator
• Deliver a programme of third-party savings and benefits annually that align with VM stakeholder priorities and the Banks cost reduction and optimisation strategy
• Create strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders across the Bank, as well as with key supplier relationships
• Define, design and deliver an approach to category management that complements the vision and strategy of VM – this may include consideration of outsourcing, insourcing, co-sourcing and partnership opportunities
• Provide leadership and guidance across VM and Procurement on sourcing approaches and execution
• Lead Procurement initiatives and opportunities and supporting with departmental priorities
• Represent Procurement, both internally and externally at relevant Business Review Meetings and Governance Meetings

• Ability to foster growth and development in direct and indirect reports, and use best practice techniques for coaching
• Strategic thinker with the ability to see the longer-term impacts of plans and the potential for improvement
It’s a bonus if you have but not essential🧁
Procurement Knowledge across several IT categories – Experience within the infrastructure category and working with suppliers such as BT, IBM & Microsoft would be advantageous
• Understanding of industry trends in procurement and sourcing and in banking specifically in relation to sourcing opportunities
• Understanding of tools, techniques, processes and practices of innovative sourcing
• Understanding of the importance of regulation, governance and risk management in strategic initiatives
