Westat’s Health Sector is seeking an Associate Vice President with strong business development, client management, project leadership, and research experience to join our team of clinical researchers, epidemiologists, and biostatisticians in the Clinical Research Practice. This individual will be responsible for helping to grow our Department of Health and Human Services portfolio by leading various capture activities and directing existing or
new projects of varying sizes.
This role is remote eligible.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve on Westat’s senior leadership team in the Health Sector to foster growth and develop/implement initiatives ensuring an overall culture of quality and excellence.
- Lead business development and capture for opportunities with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or other federal clients for the Health Sector.
- Direct and manage large projects or a series of smaller projects including leading design and protocol development, data collection, analysis, and report or manuscript writing.
- Supervise and provide mentorship to research staff while balancing staff availability, staff professional growth, and practice and sector financial performance.
- Collaborate on cross-sector activities in priority subject areas, such as infectious disease and vaccine effectiveness, and serve as a thought leader both internally and externally.
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a master’s degree in public health, ideally with a focus in epidemiology or biostatistics.
- 10 years of progressive project and team leadership experience in public health focused on clinical and epidemiological research.
- Successful track record of collaboration and mentorship of research staff at all levels.
- A record of successful technical, financial, business development and staff leadership experience.
- Experience leading projects for CDC, NIH, or FDA.
This Associate Vice President role is viewed as a thought leader. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, able to take initiative, as well as direction from Clinical Research leadership. Must be capable of managing multiple tracks of complex business activities simultaneously. Must be effective working both independently and in teams with a commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment.
