Required Skills in Health Economics:
The Senior Health Economist will have the experience and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment managing standalone health economic projects as well as health economic components of broader market access engagements for a range of global clients.
Early phase, pre-, peri- and post-launch health economic model development experience across several therapeutic areas
Hands-on technical skills to develop and oversee the development of cost-effectiveness, budget impact, cost comparison, revenue forecast and other models
Advanced knowledge of developing models using Excel and VBA. Additional skills, such as working knowledge of R, Shiny, and other packages are desired but not essential
Experience with designing disease models and applying alternative modelling approaches to best suit key morbidity/mortality characteristics of therapy areas, using both clinical trial and RWE data
Familiarity with HTA/reimbursement processes across key markets and methodological standards, and experience with preparing the economic section of reimbursement/HTA submissions is desired
Health outcomes research, biostatistics, RWE, epidemiology, and other broader market access related research experience is welcome. Track record of relevant publications is desired
Job Overview:
The Senior Health Economist is expert in a key MA-HEOR discipline and works with clients and across the group to manage engagements and deliver effectively for clients. They establish strong client relationships and oversee multiple client projects, while also overseeing client work. Responsibilities include developing repeat and new business, consulting with and advising clients regarding project objectives, methods, approach, status, strategy, timelines and budget. Scope of activities may include leading client meetings to identify need and scope of work; formulating strategy; overseeing proposal writing and approving proposals and final deliverables; and executing projects from start to finish.
The Senior Health Economist participates in bid defense meetings and/or capabilities presentations with MA-HEOR and Fortrea-wide clients and engages effectively in responding to client questions about Fortrea.
Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to: overseeing the development of proposals, project specifications, budgets and timelines; participating in staffing allocation; delegating and overseeing literature reviews, data analyses, qualitative interviews, literature reviews, evidence synthesis, economic models; and preparation of client proposals and deliverables. They are often responsible for managing teams of consultants, and work with others across the group on consulting projects. The Senior Health Economist is the key point of contact for the client.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Builds client rapport, trust and ongoing relationship, proactively identifying opportunities for new and repeat work
Leads initial meetings with client to review work plan, timelines, data sources; leads meetings through project duration
Leads team effort to define project scope, deliverables, budget and timelines; directs proposal writing to respond to client requirements using standard formats
Oversees others responsible for executing on projects, ensuring data are collected according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and within agreed upon timelines and budgets; coordinates input from clients, other Fortrea groups and external advisors, and identifies scope changes and whether a change order is required.
Leads efforts to assess data analyses and findings; provides feedback on analysis, programming, interpretation, and data management activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with goals and objectives of the project
Leads evaluation of findings, inferences, and application of findings to prepare findings and recommendations that meet client requirements; determines key points, patterns, and trends found in data
Collaborates with senior leadership on proposals, budgets, timelines and deliverables
Responsible for the quality and timeliness of client deliverables
Continuously evaluates financial status of engagement to monitor and assess scope creep and budget deviations. Discusses scope creep with client and keeps senior team members informed. Executes change orders as appropriate
Participates in the evaluation of client engagements to review the work plan, budget, consultant contributions, client responses, and the potential for future work
Continuously evaluates processes/areas for improvement, suggesting new process as appropriate
Advisor to junior consulting staff, orienting them on firm policies and career development
Supports senior management in implementing practice policies
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills (Minimum Required):
Graduate degree in health economics, health services research, outcomes research, statistics, public health, health policy or other relevant discipline
Minimum 5 to 8 years of successful relevant research and/or consulting experience at Fortrea or in a similar environment
Strong communication, organization, analytical and project management skills
Works effectively in a team environment; positive attitude
Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workload and meet project deadlines
