Clinical Counselor (Local Remote | US & International Locations)
CICONIX, a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) specializing in military and Veterans healthcare programs, is looking for a skilled Clinical Counselor to support the US Navy’s Fleet & Family Support Program (NFFSP). This role involves providing non-medical counseling and crisis response to Navy personnel, their partners, and dependents.

Position Overview:
As a Clinical Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing psychological first aid, crisis response, and non-medical counseling to Navy personnel and their families. This includes assessing and supporting clients dealing with adjustment disorders, family dynamics, and short-term stressors, ensuring that they have access to essential mental health resources.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Counseling & Support:
    Provide individual, couple, and group counseling to address adjustment disorders and other non-medical issues. Utilize best practices to assess and intervene in crisis situations, such as suicidal or homicidal risk.
  • Crisis Intervention & Risk Assessment:
    Conduct initial clinical assessments and ongoing risk assessments using the Columbia Suicide Severity Risk Scale (C-SSRS) and Veterans Affairs Safety Plan. Create safety plans for clients at risk.
  • Behavioral Health Referrals:
    Make referrals for clients requiring long-term or medical/psychiatric interventions and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Child & Domestic Abuse Reporting:
    Report suspected cases of child abuse or domestic violence in accordance with Navy and state requirements, coordinating with civilian authorities and the Family Advocacy Representative.
  • Telehealth Services:
    When needed, provide telephonic and virtual counseling services to support other Navy regions facing increased caseloads.
  • Documentation & Data Management:
    Maintain accurate records for all non-medical counseling services in the Navy’s FFSMIS Clinical Counseling Record System and ensure services are accounted for in the scheduling module.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), or Clinical/Counseling Psychology (PhD) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure (current & unrestricted):
    • One of the following: LCSW, LMFT, LCP, LPC, LCPC, LMHC.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of post-graduate clinical experience, with at least 2000 hours of full-time, supervised clinical work.
  • Citizenship & Background Check:
    • U.S. Citizenship and successful background investigation are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Military Life Experience:
    • Familiarity with the challenges of military life and experience providing short-term counseling for military personnel and their families.
  • Cultural Competence:
    • Ability to work effectively with clients from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Clinical & Telehealth Competency:
    • Experience working in virtual environments and proficiency in delivering telehealth counseling services.
  • Documentation Skills:
    • Knowledge of standard clinical documentation practices and military/community referral resources.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong clinical judgment, particularly in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficient communication skills, both oral and written, with a focus on clear documentation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new technology tools for virtual counseling.
Compensation:
$65,000 - $110,000 annually, based on experience and location.
 
Positions are contingent and will begin upon contract award.
