Job description

What's the role?:

As a lead DevOps engineer, you will drive continuous service reliability improvement across HERE engineering community. In addition, you will:

 

  • Identify areas for optimization and automation, focused on service reliability, stability, and throughput, implementing good DevOps practices and tools.
  • Work closely with development and operations teams, requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills, being able to bridge the gap between different teams and align them towards common goals, provide technical leadership and guidance on DevOps reliability practices and principles.
  • Interact with different sets of stakeholders, like product managers/owners, developers, and system engineers, the ability to understand their needs and manage expectations is essential.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support whenever required.
Who are you?:

You are a go-getter, with an eye for detail, strong problem-solving, a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, and have the following:

  • 8 to 12 years of experience in relevant software or internet service industry with a service operations background supporting high availability environments.
  • At least 5 years as a SRE / DevOps / Senior Systems Engineer with experience.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads
  • Experience with Java and/or Python languages for script development and automations
  • Deep understanding of the GNU/Linux operating system
  • TCP/IP, Ethernet networks, physical and logical network design, implementation and operation
  • Understanding of filesystem operation (e.g. ext3, xfs) and LVM

In this position role you will be part of the Platform Health team which is dedicated to ensuring the reliability and stability of HERE services. Our team focuses on conducting Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), identifying and remedying systemic issues, and performing game days to enhance the reliability of the services delivered to HERE customers. We work closely across the HERE engineering community to maintain high standards of service and to prevent future disruptions. The team is a group of DevOps Engineers with hands-on experience in managing large-scale systems. We are committed to maintaining a 99.9% Service Level Agreement (SLA) and ensuring that our services meet customer expectations.
