Job Description Summary:

The Electrical Preconstruction Manager will be responsible for constructability review of electrical design and pre-construction coordination of electrical components for utility scale renewable energy projects.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Electrical System Constructability Coordination

    • Collaborate with SOLV Engineering, Estimating, Pre-Construction Project Management, Field Operations, and Field Installation teams, along with the electrical, structural, and civil engineers of record, to optimize electrical and structural project designs for utility-scale solar projects.

    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and contractual project requirements.

    • Coordinate with engineers and drafters to develop detailed installation drawings for field installation applications.

  • Bill of Material

    • Generate accurate Bill of Material (BOM) and material take-offs for electrical components, ensuring project specifications and budgets are met for utility-scale solar projects through the use of AccuBid and other take-off tools.

    • Assist the Procurement and Pre-Construction Project Management teams with material RFQs.

    • Coordinate with the Procurement and Pre-Construction Project Management teams to source and procure required materials in a timely manner while ensuring project materials are delivered to site in alignment with the project schedule.

    • Provide value engineering suggestions for alternative products and solutions that can meet the project requirements while reducing costs. 

  • QA/QC

    • Know and understand all project design requirements (SOLV requirements, owner/contract requirements, and permit requirements). 

    • Perform quality control checks to verify that designs and installation drawings meet project requirements as well as company standards for safety, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Collaboration and Communication

    • Work closely with cross-function teams including internal and external engineers, estimators, project managers, pre-construction project managers, procurement specialists, and construction teams to provide technical support and resolve design-related issues.

    • Communicate effectively with clients, Independent Engineers (IEs), vendors and other stakeholders to address design inquires and ensure project success.

  • AccuBid and Tool Development

    • Assist with the build-out of AccuBid and other take-off tools to generate accurate BOMs for utility-scale solar projects.

    • Generate and manage preliminary electrical material budgets for the Electrical Preconstruction group’s procurement efforts.

    • Develop tools for tracking electrical BOM procurement to provide feedback to the Electrical Estimating team.

    • Manage and update components of a material tracker tool for coordination with the Field Installation teams.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum (2) Years of AccuBid experience in the Electrical Solar industry required

  • Proficient in BlueBeam and/or AutoCAD

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes and requirements

  • Ability to read and understand electrical & structural plan sets

  • Detailed oriented

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously

  • Effective organizational skills

  • High aptitude for problem solving and critical thinking

  • Strong sense of urgency
