We are seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Strategist to join our Corporate Strategy team. In this critical role, you will play a key role in shaping IDEXX's corporate strategy, driving strategic initiatives, and providing actionable insights to senior leadership. Additionally, you will support competitive intelligence efforts, and regional and global market analytics to inform strategic decision-making.
Location: You will need to be within a reasonable driving distance to Westbrook, Maine. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation that you'll be onsite at our Westbrook Headquarters 2-3 days a week.
The work you’ll lead:
As a key member of the Corporate Strategy Team, you will advance the corporate strategy efforts by gathering and analyzing data to help inform strategic decision of the business. You will play a critical role in the end-to-end strategy by conducting market research analysis and will collaborate as part of a cross-functional team to produce findings that shape IDEXX’s overall strategy.
Strategic Projects and Initiatives: Manage high priority strategic projects, including adjacent market assessments, and cross-functional initiatives aimed at driving business growth. End-to-end responsibilities, include project scoping, analysis, design, project management, and execution.
Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence: Conduct comprehensive market analysis, including competitive benchmarking, SWOT analysis, and industry trend analysis, to inform strategic decision-making and identify market opportunities and threats.
Strategic Insights and Recommendations: Translate market insights and competitive intelligence into actionable recommendations for senior leadership, supporting strategic planning, product development, pricing strategies, and market expansion efforts. This role leads our annual strategic planning data collection and analytics process that is global in scale and drives financial forecasts.
Strategic Planning Process Support: Generate guidance materials, including market insights and competitive intelligence, to support the strategic analyses and content development. Collaborate with teams on their strategic plans’ storyboarding, analytics, as needed.
Competitive Response Planning: Develop proactive and reactive strategies to address competitive threats and capitalize on market opportunities, including scenario planning, competitive simulations (e.g., war gaming), and contingency plans.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional, cross-geography, and cross-lines of business teams, including Point of Care, Marketing, R&D, Commercial, and Investor Relations/Finance to align strategies, drive execution, and develop content as needed to ensure successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership and Development: Mentor junior Corporate Strategy team members by fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth mindset, collaboration, and innovation.
What you’ve done:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience working in a consulting firm preferred.
- Direct experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, or related roles, preferably in the healthcare or life sciences industry.
- Proven track record of:
- Leading strategic projects and initiatives, with a strong understanding of strategic planning methodologies and frameworks.
- Distilling complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Critical thinking, anticipating market trends, and identify opportunities for business growth and differentiation.
- Adapting quickly to changing resource requirements, getting the most out of available resources and being creative in sourcing resources.
- Completing competitive intelligence, market analysis, or business intelligence, is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular PowerPoint and Excel.
