The Importance of the Role
Sarepta Therapeutics is seeking a motivated facility-dependent scientist with expertise in in-life functional outcomes. The candidate will work closely with the vivarium head and preclinical leads to understand the scope of work and design strategies to test drug efficacy. This person will be expected to work within the framework of a GLP-compliant laboratory, maintain good documentation practices, and animal welfare. This position will perform and help lead in-life functional outcomes, including muscle physiology, ultrasound, EMG, and more by ensuring the requirements of approved protocols, and procedures are upheld. This position will work with Study Directors to help plan studies and explain results of the in-life outcomes. This position will also be responsible for researching new in-life outcome and expanding the capabilities of our current outcomes. Additional duties include contributing to vivarium compliance and inspection readiness activities and drafting/updating SOPs.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference
- Serve as subject matter expert on cardiac, neuromuscular, and behavioral in-life outcomes for existing and new programs.
- Serve as subject matter expert for in-life outcomes equipment.
- Assist in the execution of in-life outcomes, including but not limited to ultrasound, EMG, ECG, In Situ/Ex Vitro/In Vivo muscle physiology.
- Evaluate utilizing new technological advancements for novel in-life outcomes.
- Evaluate the potential of expanding capabilities of existing in-life outcomes.
- Identifies areas for improvement and works with manager on implementation.
- Works closely with nonclinical leads, study directors and study teams to align outcomes and data analysis.
- Perform other job duties as required.
More about You
- Ph.D. in biological sciences or related field with 0-3 years of experience or M.S. in biological sciences or related field with 5+ years relevant in-life functional outcomes experience.
- Expertise in functional outcomes is required.
- Experience working with animals and strong animal handling experience is required.
- Experience conducting ex vitro, in vivo, and in situ muscle physiology is strongly preferred.
- Experience conducting cardiac ultrasound is strongly preferred.
- Any experience conducting ECG, EMG, behavioral outcomes, or other in-life outcomes is preferred.
- Experience or expertise with neuromuscular disease and mechanism of action discovery studies preferred.
- Ability to plan and carry out experiments independently with strict adherence to vivarium methods and SOPs.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills and a documented ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Experience with statistical and computer productivity software (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, GraphPad).
- Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and to make a difference in the lives of people through our innovative medicines.

This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States.
The targeted salary range for this position is $91,200 - $114,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
