Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Manager of the Software Operations Team is responsible for leading a dynamic team that bridges the gap between IT, business units, and software vendors. This role focuses on ensuring that all software solutions are aligned with business objectives and managed throughout their lifecycle, from procurement and deployment to updates and retirement. The Manager will drive efficient operations, optimize software investments, and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders to support the organization’s technology needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Liaison:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between Software Asset and Information Management (SIAM) and business or IT customers.
    • Gather and document software requirements, ensuring solutions meet business objectives.
    • Coordinate with application and platform teams to manage software they own.
    • Facilitate Technical Assessment (TA) submissions, approvals, and renewals.
  • Data Analysis and Lifecycle Management:
    • Define software standards and rationalization in collaboration with TA, Security, SIAM, and other stakeholders.
    • Oversee communications and change management related to software.
    • Manage the lifecycle of applications in production, including reviewing security risks, Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), and remediation plans.
  • Upgrade and Removal Coordination:
    • Provide customers with options for client software upgrades, alternatives, or removals.
    • Schedule and coordinate software upgrades, maintenance, and product transitions.
    • Collaborate with business units to ensure that software changes align with operational needs.
  • License and Financial Management:
    • Work with customers to resolve licensing issues, including overages or shortages.
    • Optimize license allocation to reduce costs and ensure compliance with agreements.
    • Determine the financial impact of software usage and provide reports on software-related expenditures.
    • Ensure timely renewal of licenses and maintenance agreements to facilitate necessary upgrades.
  • Procurement and Vendor Relations:
    • Coordinate software procurement and contract negotiations with vendors.
    • Track purchase orders, manage vendor relationships, and ensure alignment with SIAM governance.
    • Partner with SIAM to develop and implement Software Operations Management strategies and policies.
Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in software operations management, IT operations, or a related area, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of software lifecycle management, licensing, compliance, and financial analysis.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or ITIL are a plus.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
