VitalSource®, is hiring an Account Executive to contribute to our team located in Raleigh, North Carolina (hybrid setting) or remotely within the U.S. 
The Account Executive is responsible for both driving revenue growth with existing accounts and identifying, qualifying, and closing new business partnerships. This role requires a balanced approach, maintaining strategic relationships with current clients while actively seeking new opportunities within the assigned territory. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned sales professional capable of navigating complex sales processes and effectively managing all aspects of both Farmer and Hunter sales strategies. Experience selling education technology to Centralized decision makers at Institutions a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Account Management: Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients within the Publisher Team, ensuring customer satisfaction and contributing to revenue growth.
  • New Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory, including qualifying leads and closing deals.
  • Sales Strategy: Implement both Farmer and Hunter sales strategies, effectively managing the sales cycle from prospecting to closing, while also nurturing long-term client relationships.
  • Technical Implementation: Understand the basics of technical implementations, including the use of APIs, to support clients in integrating solutions.
  • Industry Knowledge: Leverage knowledge of or experience in the educational publishing industry to tailor sales approaches and meet client needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Product, Marketing, and Customer Success, to align sales efforts with company goals and deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Track sales activities, generate reports, and analyze data to identify trends, forecast sales, and inform decision-making.
  • Client Presentations: Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, showcasing products and demonstrating their value to meet client needs.
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Strong understanding of the Education market and how technology is adopted
  • Proficiency in consultative selling approaches, with the ability to explain complex technology and processes.
  • Expertise in CRM systems, particularly Salesforce.
  • Ability to review agreements and identify business risk.
  • Ability to negotiate business terms.
  • Ability to meet financial targets and manage sales processes efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and flexibility with handling customer needs.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or directly related year-for-year experience
  • 3-5 years sales experience
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Salary Range$82,500 to $101,000
