Job description

The Release Manager will be responsible for orchestrating the planning, scheduling, and controlling of releases across the enterprise for various deployment stages and environments while enabling ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) leading practices where applicable. This role serves as a gatekeeper by ensuring the integrity of the release and environments are protected, and that the correct components are being released. Releases include, but are not limited to, new application deployments, application updates, operating system updates, and security improvements.

Development of processes for the release management lifecycle and progression of code releases in various environments is part of the role. The Release Manager will work collaboratively with IT delivery teams, management, and business to define the most efficient and least impactful release cadence. The Release Manager understands that balancing the need for timely software delivery with the necessity for stability and security is pivotal.

This is a full-time, exempt position located in our Portsmouth, NH or Chesterbrook, PA offices (remote employee acceptable) reporting to the Sr. Portfolio Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines and owns the release calendar,
  • Plans the release cadence, windows, and cycles across all portfolios, including overseeing release plans, dependencies, risks, and contingencies
  • Negotiates release activities,
  • Measures and monitors release progress to ensure integrity and delivery,
  • Coordinates release content and effort based off the IT Project Roadmap, Change Requests, operating system updates, and third-party applications, including managing the governance of the change control process, including Change Advisory Board leadership,
  • Conducts release review meetings,
  • Gatekeeps and coordinates Go/No Go activities and approvals,
  • Develops deployment plans and checklists in coordination with the Portfolio team,
  • Manages risks and resolves challenges that impact release quality, scope, and schedule,
  • Escalates issues, constraints, and risks in a timely manner to management,
  • Communicates release plans and changes,
  • Validates release notes,
  • Develops release management processes and lifecycle in a manner of continuous improvement, leveraging ITIL leading practices and industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • H.S Diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field,
  • 6+ years of experience in highly respected technology, biotech, consulting, or related firms,
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills,
  • Excellent analytical skills,
  • Ability to plan and negotiate release activities,
  • Experience in cross-functional communication and teamwork,
  • Experience in managing release trains preferred,
  • Medical technology, specialty pharmaceutical, or durable medical equipment experience preferred,
  • Strong understanding of ITIL principles and practices,
  • Experience with agile, scrum, and modern software development tools such as AzureDevOps, Atlassian/JIRA, and ServiceNow a plus,
  • Multi-national corporate knowledge preferred.

  • Travel up to 40%
