About The Opportunity

Ellucian is seeking a skilled Senior Cloud Engineer with extensive experience in AWS, DevOps practices and tools. In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing pipelines that will drive the modernization of our applications and contribute to delivering a seamless SaaS experience.

Where you will make an impact

  • Design, build, and support automation and monitoring (Data dog) that improve system reliability, detect symptoms and preempt outages
  • Run the infrastructure comprised of Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes
  • Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack
  • Partner with R&D teams to advance efforts towards containerization and automation.
  • Quickly troubleshoot incidents by applying restorative actions, addressing root causes, implementing systematic fixes, and avoiding further system impact.
  • Install, setup, and configure third party tools for collecting and analyzing database performance and stability issues.
  • Analyze system performance issues, participate in post-mortem discussions, provide technical insights for bug fixes, and create detailed runbooks, automation, and documentation for future improvements and task automation.
  • Mentor Cloud Engineering colleagues by leading best practice adoption, offering process improvement expertise, and providing technical leadership as a subject matter expert.
  • Responsible for identifying, creating, and maintaining Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

What You Will Bring

  • Proven 5+ experience with monitoring development and administration - Datadog, NewRelic, AppDynamics.
  • Strongly preferred experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, ECR, ECS, EKS/KOPS/Kubernetes as well as proficiency in YAML, Jenkins, Git, and Bitbucket pipelines.
  • Strong background in AWS (e.g., AMI, EC2, EBS, ELB, IAM, KMS, RDS, S3, SNS, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, Lambda) within a DevOps or Engineering role.
  • Experience with Enterprise scale Linux administration is a plus
  • Skilled in developing and deploying automation, CLI, and API scripts using various tools, with a preference for Terraform, Python, Java, Bash, Jenkins, and Git.
  • Experience with Postgres database performance troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Preferred AWS certifications include Developer, DevOps, SysOps, or Solutions Architect, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Tenacious problem-solver skilled in identifying root causes, collaborating with diverse global teams, and delivering strong verbal and written communication with excellent customer service and attention to detail.

Selected incumbent must be ready to work on rotational shifts(5PM -1 AM). Perform on-call resource working to identify systemic problems and identify solutions.
