ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE
The Environmental Project Manager – Utilities, Public Lands (Project or Senior Biologist) is a leadership position. This person will be responsible for multiple projects, other managers, staffing, quality control, budgets, and business development. The Senior Project Manager will provide technical oversight for EI’s projects located in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, and San Diego Counties. Job responsibilities include proposal preparation, team building, subcontracting, budget control, and scheduling for EI's biological, wetland, restoration, and environmental service teams. Responsibilities may include technical writing (i.e., report writing, mitigation plan preparation), overseeing project compliance with environmental policies, and maintaining client interactions on a variety of projects. Other duties may include field team management and providing specialized site assessments. Further, the responsibilities will include maintaining positive relationships with clients and public agencies, report preparation and review, developing and managing project budgets and schedules, business development activities, proposal preparation, task order preparation, and contract compliance.

Our position is located in Southern California, we have offices through out the state this position offers the ability to work Hybrid with the flexibility to work Remotely.
Environmental Intelligence, LLC (EI) is a mission-driven and fast-growing environmental consulting firm with offices in Laguna Beach, Los Angeles, Pasadena, and San Diego, California. EI has projects throughout southern California and a diverse client base in renewable energy development, utility infrastructure, oil & gas, residential development, and public sectors. EI provides biological consulting, CEQA/NEPA compliance, construction monitoring, wetland delineations, and habitat restoration services. EI is looking for motivated professionals with solid technical skills and a strong entrepreneurial spirit to facilitate their personal growth and our team's success.
Applicants should have a track record of successful managerial experience and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. This role involves daily interaction with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies. Additional responsibilities include marketing, business development, and revenue projections. There are also incentive and bonus programs in place for acquiring new clients, securing contracts, and surpassing revenue/profitability targets.
As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs
Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops
Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts
Performs other duties as assigned
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
BS, BA and/or advanced degree in environmental science, environmental studies, or similar field.
7 years of professional experience as an environmental professional with increasing responsibilities; 5 years management experience.
Proven experience working on all aspects of the project including proposal preparation, technical writing, client interactions, and field work (e.g., monitoring, site visits, site assessments).
Ability to work on business development and marketing tasks to support EI’s growth.
Experience and training in a specialized field (e.g., environmental policy, wildlife biology, etc.) is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership role managing proposal efforts, contracts, and multiple project efforts simultaneously.
Project management experience in the environmental field on a range of projects with a variety of clients.
Program management experience (e.g., working on high-volume, quick turnaround requests, while producing high quality and accurate products).
Ability to create and manage project/program tracking tools (e.g., Microsoft excel tracking spreadsheets).
Ability to maintain professional relationships with diverse groups including field staff, contractors, and clients.
Knowledge of current environmental regulations including CEQA and NEPA.
Experience and training with ArcGIS and GPS technologies for large scale biological resource inventories is a plus.
