POSITION SUMMARY

This role specializes in the oversight and management of the clinical aspects of the Hospitalists service line at client hospitals of IES and its subsidiaries. This role will interface with key members of IES Corporate, Clinical, and Operational leadership in developing and executing service plans for new and existing clients. This position supports the Hospitalists and Site Medical Directors in several key areas including, but not limited to, policy education and development, improving departmental efficiency, patient complaint and incident resolution, and interdepartmental care coordination. Work can be done in a Hybrid capacity and candidates must must reside in a state we operate in (AZ, CO, TX, OK, IN, AR, SC, FL) and be willing to travel to client sites. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for establishing working relationships with the CCO, COO, and other key members of Operational, Clinical, and Client leadership to develop and accomplish service plan goals. Emphasis on overseeing the Clinical Management aspects of the Hospitalist service line to ensure strong clinical and operational performance. Responsible for keeping appropriate personnel informed of the clinical and operational policies, procedures, goals, and results.
  • Supports Hospitalists and Site Medical Directors through the development, management, and promotion of initiatives that improve the quality, service, and overall care of the populations we serve. Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and maintain a comprehensive strategy to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of patient care and patient experience.  Will work closely with other service lines in specific markets to align care across specialties. 
  • Sets the vision and strategic direction for clinician resourcing and staffing. Manages workforce development, capacity analysis, and workforce deployment. Facilitates the recruitment and retention of a diverse team by partnering with site level leaders to ensure the identification, promotion, and success of candidates from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Builds a culture within the market and/or service line that can execute change to meet stated objectives. Drives market leaders to develop and implement solutions which improve physician engagement and support throughout different stages of the clinician experience. Leverages the full talent and expertise of physician leaders through mentoring and attention. 
  • Leads teams by establishing accountability regarding the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and key performance measures (KPMs). Develops and continuously enhances physician performance measures. Ensures that all sites are focused on the same, employees are developed, and best practice knowledge is shared among sites. Protects the assets and intellectual property of IES and its subsidiaries and serves as a steward of company resources.
  • Assists the Medical Directors in the workflow coordination between the Hospitalist Department and other ancillary departments.
  • Assists and counsels Medical Directors and Client leadership in the identification, evaluation, and resolution of problem areas. Provides in-service training of department personnel as needed and requested.
  • Provides executive oversight of the Hospitalist service lines at client sites to ensure that work is in compliance with all clinical medical policies, directives, rules, regulations and clinical performance standards of the state, the federal government, hospital bylaws, and accrediting bodies.

  • Functions as an agent of change to enhance performance.
  • Actively works to develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships between IES and client hospitals. Maintains appropriate and efficient communication throughout the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with guidelines, policies and procedures and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education / Experience:  Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job.

Required:

  • Physician (M.D. or D.O) with a current and unrestricted physician license in a state or territory of the United States
  • Maintain appropriate Board Certification, most typically in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, with significant, relevant, clinical experience.
  • Current DEA registration
  • Eligible to participate in Medicare and Medicaid
  • Minimum of 5 years’ physician executive experience or equivalent experience with evidence of progressively greater responsibility
  • Demonstrable and credible experience in clinical practice to relate credibly to a diverse and exceptionally trained clinical team

Preferred:

  • MBA or other advanced management degree is highly desirable.
